Pyromaniacs
We sat with the silent sobs
that took our breath away.
The air was
deflated in our lungs as if
it was collapsing each of our chests-
both crumbling like the confines
of our world.
Forced to watch as we set ablaze,
our tears ran from our eyes and
ran out of time-
reflecting a fiery inferno in our eyes.
The roar deafened our ears,
as our lives were engulfed on a pyre.
Your lungs, they gasped,
and crackled for air,
as they attempting to hush the flames.
Our souls smoldering-
and escaping as smoke into
the open air-
Leaving us here to breathe the left behind
ashes and embers of destruction.
