The Magnifying Glass
Summary:
At Roosevelt Valley High School, a public high school in suburban New York, college pressure is at an extreme. 100% of the students at Roosevelt graduate and go on to high education, learning to become CEOs and lawyers and doctors and bankers who will, one day, move back to Roosevelt Valley and raise their children to do the same.
But in this town, you won't impress anyone with anything but an Ivy. Staying beautiful and taking four AP classes is the norm. The pressure is on, and it's here to stay. High school just isn't about learning anymore.
Psychologists, parents, journalists -- they all say the stress is harmful; that's no secret -- but what are they doing to help?
