University of Connecticut MAG
Storrs, CT: The University of Connecticut fits the description of almost everyone’s dream school. Although in a rural area, its large size makes it feel like its own city. Furthermore, located less than two hours from Boston and 30 minutes from Hartford, the bustle of big cities is only a bus ride away.
Whether you want a large or small school, University of Connecticut can fit the bill. Its main campus in Storrs has 26,600 students, but this does not mean those desiring a small school should stop reading. After talking with students, it became clear that they form smaller groups of friends which make the sometimes overwhelming size of the school seem more personal and manageable.
For those of you who live for the college sports scene, UConn is the unparalleled leader in exciting rivalries and monumental championships. If you think sports are more for fun than a passion, the university offers intramural teams, plus there are more than 200 clubs that are for just about any interest.
Besides listed majors, the University of Connecticut offers an individualized major program. This university, once called Storrs Agricultural School, still has an exceptional two-year agricultural school. Homemade ice cream prepared daily by students is a definite attraction for students and faculty alike.
For those looking for a quiet small school or a loud sports-oriented large school, the University of Connecticut offers the best of both worlds.
