“GO GO GO!”
“Where?! I can’t see anything past the dust!”
“In the backyard! Go before-” The sound of another bomb exploded in my ears.
“Dad! NO!”
“Leave him! We have to get to safety!”
“Ow! My ankle! I think I twisted it!”
“Jenny, keep running, we’ll take care of your ankle when we get to the shelter!”
I pulled open the heavy door. “Everyone get inside!”
“Ew, this place is so nasty.”
“Well, would you rather be outside, being blown to bits-”
Our conversation was cut off by a timid voice.
“Hello? Who’s there? …..What year is it?”
