I am a nothing.  Well, nothing but a thief.  Just a stupid, low life thief with nothing to look forward to except the food, fresh and delicious, that I had planned to steal.   I, Skyler, was a thief.
I must do it later or else I will get caught, I thought.  I planned  to leave at 10:00, and make a stop at Richie’s house for some important materials.  Then by the time I get there nobody will be there and it will be a clean rob.
9:59, 10:00.   Jumping off the roof,  grabbing the edge off the stairs, running away, I headed for Richie’s house.   I raced toward the bottom of the cold stairs.
Richie lived about 2 minutes from my house.  It was not an ideal location for the two of us.  Where we lived was a haunted house, it's always scary but you don't know what will pop out at you.
Richie left the materials outside, in the pouring rain, in a place that only I could get them.  In a locked metal box, but I have the key.  I turned the copper key and yanked out the bag with everything I could need.
I began running as fast as I could, dodging trash cans and people, and hiding behind everything so I would to not get seen.  The squish in my shoes disgusts me.
The bakery was a nice bakery for the unsafe side of town.  It had hanging lights bright yellow that shone like New York City.  It looked so beautiful at night like fireworks.   Black-and-white couches were all over the bakery.  The bakery was the most beautiful place I had ever seen.
The plan was to get in through the garage door, and luckily they left wide open.  I am not even going to need these materials except for the bag.  I creep toward the small garage door.  I hopped inside and looked around.  I saw a box full of newly made bread.  I went over to grab it and I hear.
“ Hey what are you doing here,” Jake yelled.
“Ahhhhhhhhhh,” I screamed.
I started to sprint away and he started to chase me.  I ran around big barrels, through small piles of trash, and even over a 4 foot tall  fence, and so did Jake.  He tried to stay as close as possible or just keep me in sight.  That was a challenge for him though, because I wore all black tight clothes and a black mask.
He keep getting closer and closer.  I needed to do something to get him away from me.  I kept running until I saw how I was going to get away from him.  I was going to jump and got up onto the fire escape stairs outside an apartment building.  I doubt he was going to follow me.
I sprinted as fast as I could and finally I jumped.  My hands reached the the bottom of the stair.  I used all of my strength to pull myself up.  I pulled myself up and started lightly  jogging up the stairs.
I was thirsty enough to drink a river dry so I stopped to take a break and just stood here for a minutes or two until Jake started to throw rocks  at me. “ Bang,” was the sound of the rocks as they hit the stairs.  Rocks that weigh 15 pounds.  Rocks that I can barely pick up.  Rocks that could be the death of me.  I started to sprint but one of them hit me. Pain rushed to my knee the rock hit me.  Pain bursting,  blood gushing,  rocks slamming,  I fell over and started to bleed.
“ You're a dirty little thief and a nothing,”  Jake yelled when he saw me fall.
I had to get out of this dirty place.  I could not take this torture of words that I already know.  I needed to get up.  So I took off my jacket and tied it around my bleeding knee. The bloody jacket sat on my leg, silent and painful.  Then I left like the wind.
I hobbled up the stairs as fast as I could.  One last rock was thrown and I was out of sight.  I reached the top of the apartment building in no time.
My house, on the roof, was the next building over.  In between the two buildings the was a 3 feet gap.  The only way to get across was to risk your life and jump.  The gap was screaming don’t do it, don’t do it.  I walked to the opposite side of the roof and took off sprinting until I jumped.  I had made it across the gigantic gap.   I was so scared I was going to kick the bucket.
I never wanted to be a thief but I had no other choice.  It was either starve or steal.  It was my only choice, but I have to admit I know it.  I know that I am a nothing. Nothing but a thief.
