“Some days, the whole world seems upside down. And then somehow, improbably, and when you least expect it the world rights itself again” -Meredith Grey. For Meredith Grey life was not always easy, but her tenacious attitude allowed for her to be successful. Meridith truly embodies what it means to be a strong women. The many tragedies she has experienced have shaped her into the person she’s become.

Meredith Grey is a General Surgeon who not only touches the lives of her patients but everyone around her. Within the TV show meredith builds several types of relationships with her coworkers some romantic, and others remain platonic. She has suffered from much pain and many losses but these negative experiences are what drives her to be so strong minded. Meredith is an extremely special character because of her ability to turn her pain into something good, the way she cares for those she loves, and her natural talent in the operating room.

Growing up for Meredith was not easy, her mother was never around, and didn’t care much to be apart of Meredith's life. Neglected at a young age Meredith was left with no one to look up to as a mother figure.  Unfortunately, Meredith's lack to have a healthy relationship with her mother ultimately leads to her being an emotionally complex person. It is unbelievable the amount of tragedies Meredith has experienced, such as watching her own mother attempt suicide, the passing of her husband and losing her sister in an airplane crash. Most of these events would break most people and leave them feeling as life will never get better, but for Meredith it is the complete opposite, she takes what happens to her and uses it as her ambition to lead a successful life.

Meredith never really got to experience what having a family was like until she met her coworkers. From the surface Meredith seems as if she is very unloving, but this is far from the truth.  Meredith builds different relationships with her coworkers, but no matter what she is always immensely loyal to the ones she loves. During her internship she allows for her fellow interns to move into her house, because of this they all become one family. Many times Meredith is seen breaking rules and going out of her way to keep what she thinks of as her family safe. Meredith's willingness to be there and help people through anything and everything shows how much of a loving person she truly is. Her ability to build these deep connections after everything she has been through is admirable.

The natural talent Meredith possess in the operating room is remarkable. She takes pride in her work and time after time touches the lives of her patients. When in surgery Meredith always remains calm even under pressure, and is exceptional at diagnosing things that may be hard to find. Often times Meredith’s patients feel as though they can trust her and open up to her, this is because she is not a judgmental person and succeeds at helping people feel at ease. For Meredith and her fellow surgeons winning a Harper Avery award is a huge accomplishment. In the world of Meredith Grey this was a dream come true, her hard work researching led her to be the recipient of this award. Winning was not easy, the start of her research was rocky and full of failures and mistakes. Never giving up and having the courage to keep going led the path for her success. Being a surgeon is not easy work, and comes with making many personal sacrifices. The sacrifices and hard work Meredith puts in is not only an inspiration for aspiring surgeons, but also for women.

Meredith is a prime example of not letting the tragedies you experience define you. After everything life has thrown at her she still chooses to carry on and never give up. Whether she’s in the operating room or being a shoulder to cry on, Meredith is always reliable and a true role model.
