Faith is Born

It was a sunny day in January, the birds were chirping, the smell of fresh cut grass filled the air. The day didn’t feel like any regular day, this day was much different today was the day that my families horse Bella was a special day for me, because mommy told me that the baby foal would be mine, my responsibility, and i can’t what. To make the time go by faster while waiting, i go outside to the chicken coop, to play with the chickens. The coop was my most  favorite place on the farm, because in there i get cost in my imagination. I would pretend that the chickens were princesses trapped in build or that we were all super heroes. Suddenly I am awaken from traveling through my imagination by a loud noise. The noise happens a few more times before I could make out what it was, “Julia, Julia” it was my mother calling me. I jumped up in excitement screaming “it’s Time” I run out of the chicken coop and it is now dark outside i think to myself,’’how long was i in the copp?’’ as i run to the the barn running as fast as i can i can feel  the cool wind brush past my cheers and through my hair, ‘’Julia’’ i hear again, “coming mommy” i say as i reach the barn.

The doors are wide open I can see my mommy inside with Bella the family horse Bella is walking along the back wall of the barn, while my mom is off to the side with her cell phone in front of her face recording the whole thing. I enter the barn, the only sounds are coming from Bella who is now laying on the ground on her side. Three minutes go by and still nothing, i’m beginning to grow anxious with excitement. So I ask my mom, what is taking so long, she tells me that I must be patient, so I wait, and wait, waiting… waiting… more waiting. Five minutes later my mommy says look, it’s happening, when I looked up there she was a baby foal. She was beautiful, she was the color of light brown sugar, very skinny and hair was shiny. She stood up on her own feet and began to stumble a bit, swaying back and forth trying to keep her balance. I am stunned at the very sight of her, she is beautiful, and all mine, mommy asked me what I wanted to name her, and I quickly responded Faith.

I will see Faith in the barn eating some hay and grass , Faith is beautiful and healthy and she looks just like Bella. This baby horse is special she seems stronger than other horses, she seems gentler than other horses.  She is smart, and she is fast. I look at Faith and ask my mom is she can be a show horse like they have for dog shows. My mom says yes, but she has a better idea…..maybe Faith should join Project RIDE. Maybe Faith should be a horse that helps others learn to be independent and helpful.  I say that is a great idea so we then get her a coach to teach her how to work with kids. This is so special.

Two years go by and Faith is a star at Project RIDE.  They use her all the time and she looks very pretty. One day she will have a baby and then she can be named Little Faith.
