I bit into my muffin as I looked at Makayla, who was sitting across from me.

“So...have you told James yet?” she inquired.

“No,” I responded.

“You need to tell him,” Makayla scolded me.

“But what if he thinks that I’m a weirdo?”

“Then he thinks you're a weirdo. It’s better to just be straightforward,”

“Fine, I’ll do it tonight,”

“Good!” She said, but then her phone started ringing. “Sorry. I have to go. See you later!”

“See ya,” I replied. As she walked away, I saw her shadow turn angry looking, as she talked to her phone. I then left the restaurant, walked over to my silver car, and started the drive home.

Once I made it home, I hopped into the shower and got ready for the date. I sat in my living room, anxiously waiting for the doorbell to ring. When the dreaded ding dong of the doorbell sounded throughout the house, I ran over to the door and flung it open.

“ ‘ello Beck! How has today been treating you?” James greeted me.

“Fine, how about you?” I sighed.

“Not too bad. Ready to go?”

“Yeah. Can we talk about something first?” I asked him

“Ok,”

“Well, I’ll just get straight to the point...I can see people’s true feelings through their shadows,” I said

James stared at me, looking shocked, so I said, “I understand if you don’t want anything to do with me now. You can leave if you want!” He cut me off by grabbing my shoulders and making me look at him.

“Hey, look at me!” He ordered. “I’m never going to leave you and you're not the only one, I can see people’s feelings through their shadows, too.”
