August 2022 Fiction Contest: Welcome Home
The sun kissed the sky over the mansion in the midst of the forest. A large gate surrounded the mansion, and, at first, Liliana thought she was at the wrong house. The door opened, and a lad walked out.
“Welcome home Liliana,” he said, "I am your brother, Tony."
Liliana followed him. Inside the mansion were large rooms filled with ornaments. Tony smiled as the maid helped Liliana remove her coat. Her eyes widened when she was a middle-aged couple come down the stairs.
“Mommy, Daddy,” she said, “I can remember you,” as she ran towards them and embraced them tenderly.
