only I can change my life! No one can do it for me!

My name is Tiffany and I am a student starting my journey into healthcare. I am so excited to know that there is an opportunity to apply for a medical assisting scholarship; but first, let me tell you about myself. I grew up as the middle child of seven children - four brothers and two sisters. As you know, being the middle child, you get to see everything from both sides of both your older and younger siblings. I was homeschooled my whole life and was actually the only one ing my family who graduated from the homeschooling program that my parents set up for us. My older brothers ans sister preferred to experience life rather than learn, and my younger brothers and sister were to high school because my parents were no longer able to pay the tuition of homeschooling. My father had lost his job and my mom had to get a job to help support the family. I graduated high school at the age of seventeen, in the month of May. I felt very proud of myself from all the effort that I into school. I was not your typical student, as I struggled very much due to a learning disability.

My initial interest in healthcare had sparked when I got my very first job. I was eighteen years old and I was hired as a laundry aide at a nursing home. I learned so much from this experience because I had never really been around people prior to this. I never had an opportunity to experience a social life when I was growing up, and I only had a few friends. At the nursing home, I had the opportunity to speak with the residents and learn about their stories. It was very rewarding for me to lend an ear and listen to the patients.

Let's back up a little bit. Growing up I loved to played sports. I was on a soccer team and really enjoyed being with my teammates. I was even given the title "Best Defensive Player of the Year." Impressive, right? My time as a soccer player really did no end after high school. Iwill actually attend Bristol Community College, where I will be taking some courses in Health and Human Sciences. One of the courses that I have to take is math, and that subject is definitely not my favorite. However, I will manage to earn a passing grade. I ultimately will  earn enough courses and credits to graduate, and formally will graduate in June of the year 2017 with an Associates Degree. I will receive an award for my grades, and was I will be very proud of this accomplishment.

I have many great qualitities that will make me successful in the field of medical assisting. One of the greatest qualities about myself is that I am a very resilient person. I have endured much adversity growing up, but I do not let that get in my way. At age eighteen, I have a dream of a dancer. No one believes in me, not even my family. However, I went on to achieve this dream of mine. When I started dancing I had how, nor any skills, but I wanted to learn. After some time, and with much patience, I will progress and get better. I will eventually will do recitals and in a few year go on to do dance competitions. I have not been dancing for long, but I long to share my passion with others!

In addition to being resiilent, I am very determined. I work very hard at what I do, no matter what anyone thinks of what my capabilities are. I love to surprise others with my achievements, especially my family. There are times in my life when I will be living on my own and go to college, dance, work, and even maybe play soccer for my college team.

However, I want to make a change in my life, because I am getting older, and I want a stable career. Medical Assisting would provide me with a foundation in healthcare. I am so determined to be successful in my program and in the field. I hope that I can make a difference in the life of my patients, and help to provide them with a quality healthcare.
