He had learned to accept his solitude, finding peace in the quiet of his world. But then, everything changed when a new girl arrived. She was a vision of grace, tall and slim with an ethereal beauty that captivated him from the moment she entered his class. As she took the seat next to him, a simple "hi" from her lips and his response ignited the spark of their connection. His heart raced, and a warmth spread through his chest, a feeling that he had long forgotten.

Gradually, they pushed aside the weight of silence, shedding his loneliness like how he used to shed tears. They shared their thoughts and dreams, both in person and online, deepening their bond until they became inseparable best friends. His days were no longer marked by isolation but filled with the warmth of her presence. It had almost felt like a relationship, she tried to convince him how it was.

Months passed and he couldn't help but fall for her, although his affection remained unspoken, silent love that danced in the depths of his heart. However, the smoothness of their relationship was disrupted when a new guy entered the picture, a perfect mix of recklessness and control, qualities she adored.

Time passed, and their once constant conversations became seldom, a painful shift from talking every hour to only occasional exchanges. With every slow reply, a creeping sense of foreboding washed over him, like a shadowy figure lurking in the background. One day at school, he became the center of attention, the main topic of hushed conversations and curious glances. A friend approached him, pointing to the girl he cared for deeply, who was now in the company of the new guy. His heart raced, tears welled up in his eyes, and a wave of anger surged through his thoughts. He longed to confront the new guy, to protect what he held dear, but how could you protect something that was never yours to begin with? She started laughing at him. She laughed at how stupid and naive he was. Her words cut deep and his heart stood still and cold. The rage for the guy quickly left, leaving behind a void filled with sadness and regret.

As silence once again took over him, a chilling reminder of his enduring loneliness, he couldn't help but wonder about the new guy. Rumors circulated the school. Soon he found out something about the new guy. He wasn't truly new; he had always been there, part of her life. She had played a dangerous game with his emotions, talking to the “new” guy all along, while he meant nothing to her. The truth left him numb. (time skip) He woke up from his nap, which he thought would help. Desperate to reach out, he sent her a message, only to discover that it wouldn't go through; she had blocked him. The harsh reality set in – this wasn’t a prank or a dream. But it was reality. He fell back asleep.

The author's comments:

I use imagery, foreshadowing and illusion. For imagery, the descriptions like "a vision of grace" and "ethereal beauty" create vivid mental images, enhancing the reader's understanding of the girl's appearance. For foreshadowing, the sense of foreboding and the shadowy figure lurking in the background hint at the upcoming betrayal. For allusion, the reference to his nap and the dreamlike quality of the situation alludes to the dreamlike nature of his initial perception of their relationship, which is later shattered by reality.
