It's almost Christmas, the white snow on the ground is almost as cold as a blizzard, if not colder.
I met this guy on Christmas Eve, he was very handsome. Soft brown hair with blue eyes that
sparkled in the sunlight. His skin pale but had a tan tint to it. He was tall and skinny, but not
too skinny he was just the right kind of skinny. He was magical.. Or I thought he was at least.
So I was walking in the grocery store when I noticed him again. This time, he was coming towards me. I think he was anyways.
Sure enough he walked right up to me, took off his hat and said " Hello, my name is Matthew. How are you?" I replied... " H-Hi, my name's Rosalie. I'm doing good, how about you?"
I had silky blonde hair, I was tall but a little short if that makes any sense. I was sort of skinny, I'm not sure what you would call it but, I was in between skinny and really skinny.
I didn't think I was pretty but apparently almost every guy in the neighborhood, town, and city thought differently.
We finally finished the conversation in the store, he says " Ms. Rosalie, may I accompany with you for dinner tomorrow night at 7:00pm?" I replied with a question... " Why sure, I'd love that. Is there a way you could get cuter than you are?"
We both chuckled and then he finally said what I wanted to hear. His words were, " Maybe, but I think that if I got any cuter than you'd have a heartattack." I laughed a little bit at that reply.
He was very sweet, unlike the rest of the guys in my town. At least this one had manners, and knew exactly how and what to say to a woman.
He asked for my cell phone number, so I wrote my name and my number in non-toxic ink pen on his hand.
After the small conversation with him, he already had me blushing, but I knew I still had to finish my grocery shopping. So, I finished shopping and checking out. Once I arrived back at my beautiful, white house that was tall and had staircases almost all through the house, I saw something.
Something unusual, something that I'd never seen before. It was cute. Not the guy cute but cute. At first I didn't know what it was. Well, mainly because daddy never let animals in the house. But sure enough it was a puppy. Sitting on my doorstep, I got out and brought in the groceries while letting the puppy inside.
I set my groceries down and put them up, then I filled a small bowl of water and set it on the floor in the kitchen. I then picked a little porkchop off the bone out of the refridgerator and set it in a saucer, then I set the saucer on the floor.
After I let the puppy eat, I sat on the couch and thought of names. Since it was a girl, I came up with either sugar, or rose.
I decided to name it Rose. Then the phone rang, it startled me. I picked it up quickly before it could ring a second time. " Hello?" At that moment I had thought that it was Matthew, only because he was the only one I gave my number to that day. " H-Hi, Ms. Rosalie?" , " Yes, that's me. May I ask who this is?" " This is Matthew, sorry to call you so late m'am I just, after I seen you in the grocery store, I couldn't stop thinking about how beautiful you are."
"Awwww, Thank You Mr. Matthew" " It's not a problem Ms. Rosalie." " Oh please, just call me Rosalie suga." I smile as he chuckles. " Okay, Rosalie. Would you mind if I come over tonight...?" I could hear his hesitation as if he was frightnened to ask that one simple, heart warming question. " T-That would be great Mr. Matthew" he chuckles a little more. " Just call me Matt, Rosalie. A beautiful lady like you shouldn't be alone in a house at night time I know that for sure."
His voice was sweet, it almost sounded like Daddy's when he was living of course. Daddy passed away in 2004. I still remember daddy's last words to me. His voice sweet but warningful. I loved daddy, he was mean and harsh but sweet and generous. If that makes any kind of sense at all. He went into the hospital in 2003, nobody knew what was wrong with him. it was very strange, the doctors didn't say anything to family or friends at all, not even momma knew. They kept quiet, I remember going next to daddy's bed in the hospital and hugging him tightly. The next thing I knew after I hugged him was machines started going off, nurses started piling in ontop of me pushing me out of the way.
I then seen the heart moniter, there was no heartbeat. I then went home crying. I couldn't stay I was about to go crazy in there. A tear rolled down my face just thinking about it, Matt asked me what was wrong and of course the only reply to him was " I'm fine... don't worry"
He then asked me for my adress, I gave it to him. In about 20 to 30 minutes later there was a knock on my door. Sure enough, it was Matt. I was surprised. I then opened the door without any hesitation and invited him in. He hugged me gently and said " I got here as soon as I could, when I hear the sniffle through the phone I knew something wasn't right.
Another tear fell from my eyes, once it did Matt wiped it with him thumb off of my face and then leaned towards me. I was shocked but went along with it because I liked him... a lot.
He then kissed me gently. I kissed back without hesitation, then we both smiled. We sat on the couch and talked, then a chill came through the house as I shivered Matt stood up. I didn't know what he was going to do but I watched him carefully, like a hawk watching it's prey.
He came over to me and asked me to stand up for a second. I did just that. Then he layed on the couch and ask me to lay beside him and I did, he wrapped his arms around me as I smiled. it felt like a dream, but it was real. We layed there on the couch silent watching Bonnie and Clyde, which back then it was in black and white, mainly because momma didn't have enough money to buy a colored television.
I fell asleep in his warm and cozy arms. He woke up at 5 the next morning and jumped right up off the couch, being careful not to wake me, but it was too late. I was already awake watching him, he kissed my forhead and whispered in my ear, " I have to go to work sweetie, I'll be back this afternoon around 4 okay. Sleep tight sweetheart."
I smiled as those words went through my mind and straight to my heart. I slowly dosed back to sleep when the phone rang at 6 that same morning. It was the hospital. I jumped up quickly and got dressed while trying to stay calm, they told me that Matt had been in a terrible vehicle accident, I was scared... I grabbed my keys after getting dressed, locked the door, and rushed to the hospital. As I got to the front desk, I saw Matt. He looked horrible, I was scared.
The lady at the desk told me I couldn't go back there, but I refused to listen to her. He was in room 386... The same room that daddy had passed away in. It brought back memories and I wanted to cry, but I held it back because I knew that I had to be there for Matt. I slight touched his hand as his responsive words were " Rosalie... is that you?" I replied with soft words trying to hide my shaking voice and my tears that followed. " Y-Yes it's me."
He smiled slightly, about that same time a tear fell from my face and hit the top of his hand, he then looked at me with watery eyes. " I-I'm sorry, I left for work, but I - I was in an accident. It wasn't my fault.. But I'm sorry." More tears fell from my eyes. " Matt, Matt shhhhh it's okay. I'm here okay I'll always be here, don't worry okay. You're going to be okay." At that time I really didn't know if he was or not. He was so torn up from the accident he had scartches and marks and bruises all over his body... I was scared that he was going to die. I didn't show emotion of that though, I didn't want to scare him or anything like that, so I stayed strong.
Later that day he gave me keys to his house and gave me orders to go and get him some clothes out of his room since he was going to be staying over night. So I left the hospital and did just that, in the process of driving back I made a quick stop and my house and got blankets, sheets, and some of my clothes. Since I had already made up my mind that I wasn't leaving him at that hospital alone like that. I then rushed back to the hospital and set our stuff in the corner beside the television hanging from the wall. I sat down beside him and slightly kissed his forehead gently so that I didn't hurt him. He smiled and told me not to worry. I then made the remark to him " I'm not the one who should be worrying right now" I smiled, as if he knew I was joking, he chuckled slightly as I smiled. I knew that chuckle anywhere, that was the chuckle that he gave me when he was desperate for help but also when he was in a little pain.
I asked him if he was okay.... he said yes, but I could see despreation for something to stop the pain in his eyes, so I went to the nurse's station, not far from his room, and asked them if they would kindly give him something for pain. I went back to the room, sat down and held his hand while I waited paitently for them to give him something for the horrible, anguishing pain that was running through his body from the wreck. Even though the wreck wasn't his fault, he was the only one that got seriously injured that was involved in the wreck, as the others in the other vehicle seemed perfectly fine. Though no one knew that for sure, but it looked like they was okay.

Matt looked at me in desperation.... He didn't have to ask, I already knew what he wanted. He was sore, but hungry, hot but cold, in pain but numb. It all sorta made sense though. That wreck sure did hurt him. Without asking him to go anywhere, I stood up, kissed his forehead, walked out of the room while digging in my purse to find a couple quarters. Back then food and drinks out of a vending machine. Finally, I found 2 quarters, one for a drink and one for food. I stuck a quarter in and got him a cold water, not knowing what he wanted. I wanted to be safe then sorry, then I put a quarter in the other vending machine and got him a small bag of cheetos, before I started to walk back to the room, I stopped at the nurses station again and asked them if he could have something light to eat because he hasn't eaten all day and she said he could. So I went back to the room, opened the chips and his water and set his water on the table beside his bed. I then handed him the chips carefully making sure that he was going to be able to hold them in his sore, bloody, messed up hand. Even though the doctors haven't gave him the pain medication yet, he was able to eat. His hand was wrapped but I could still see the blood through the bandage, I calmly asked on a scale of 1 to 10 how bad his hand hurt... He said " It's fine sweetie, it hurts like a 6 right now, but I'm okay sweetheart, now don't worry so much please." I ignored the not worrying part because even though everyone told me not to worry I just worried more. Sooner or Later they'll figure out to stop telling me not to worry because it'll only make me worry more then I was worrying. When he got done eating the chips he handed me his bag as I stood up and threw it in the trash can on the other side of the room. He couldn't reach his water, so I picked it up for him and slowly held it for him while he drank what he wanted of the water before I put the lid back on it.
The nurse finally came in the room with the pain medication, once he took the medicine he was out like a light. I watched him sleep peacefully for about two hours before I fell asleep sideways in that hard chair. He woke up at about 9 that next morning, I heard him softly whisper my name " R-Rosalie... are you awake hun?" I slowly opened my eyes and said " Yes, I'm awake..." He smiled and then asked me to come to him. I slowly got up, stretched, rubbed my eyes a little a bent down on the floor beside his bed as he said the words that I thought he'd never say. " R-Rosalie... I know it's early in our relationship, and I know we just met and everything... but...I feel like I...love you...." I could hear the weakness and shyness in his voice as I said " I-I love you too..." I was nervous, scared, and I had a lot of emotions. Then again I've been under depression since daddy died. I thought I was alone... but I didn't know that I'd ever find someone who liked me for me and not just my looks, he liked a lot of things about me, my looks were just a bonus he said. I smiled brightly as we talked for hours and hours until they finally released him from the hospital after doing many tests on his brain, heart, and a lot of other things as well. They even checked his breathing, because I know that when he got hit from the vehicle accident, he had very bad anxiety. I never thought he would tell me he loved me though, not then, not there. I mean yes we just met and we both had extremely strong feelings for each other but I didn't think it was going to be that soon.... I guess I was wrong though.

When we got to my house he insisted on staying another night with me, so I went into the guest bedroom and got it all ready for him. It was storming that night, after we got to my house, he was being kind enough to put on a wild, scary horror film for us to watch as I got the popcorn and hot chocolate going. He was already laying on the couch waiting for me before he started the movie as I walked into the living room and set his hot chocolate on the table beside him and mine on the other. I smiled as he patted the cushion in front of him like he wanted me to lay down like the night before, so I did. He kindly took the popcorn so I could then as he pressed play, Rose jumped onto the loveseat on the other end of the room. As the movie had jumpscares I jumped every single time something popped up out of nowhere onto the screen, and each time he would snuggle me and kiss my cheek to calm me down, telling me it was okay that it was just a movie. His words were very comforting, almost like daddy was, but Matt wasn't mean and harsh, in fact he was like a big ole teddy bear.
