Jerome a student at Webster’s ninth new collegiate high school he was smart, hardworking, respectful, and a honor roll student. If you saw him in class you would say he’s a straight A student but if you look at his grades they would definitely show differently this wasn’t because he wasn’t smart but Jerome just couldn’t keep up with the work. He stayed after school he talked to tutor’s when he asked his mom, she couldn’t understand the amount of work he was getting either for these reasons and the schools high source of education, Jerome was failing half his classes.

His first class was science it was a test he had to take because he didn’t get a chance to do any of the homework there was no way he was going to know a lot of the material. He got the test glanced at it and automatically got frustrated there was no reason for him to feel the way he was feeling his confidence went way down he used to feel like he was the smartest person in the class now he feels like a failure he was so frustrated he went and set his paper on the teacher’s desk and stormed out. Jerome felt like nobody else was going through what he was going through there was really nobody for him to tell.

But before he could decide to give up and just stop tiring to do the work two students came up to him they heard about his problem and they were telling him how he was going through the same thing and how they had been working together he worked with them for a while and a idea came he told himself he was going to get 250 signatures for a petition to say that teachers may not send home more than 10 pages of homework.

Over the course of about two months he started to get signatures but definitely one day during he decided he was going to get these signatures today he stood up on the table a monitor told him to get down now but he said I have something to say, he had everyone’s attention he says “the school is giving unreasonable work there is no reason for us to struggle to learn we try so hard to get good grades there’s no point to keep giving us work if you’re not going to be able to learn. After he said that all of the students got up an cheered and applauded he was very amazed about how many students there where that where going through the same struggle all he needed to do was communicate a little more after that he got more than enough signatures and the classes GPA went from an 2.2 to 3.3. Soon after the kids where inspired and started making changes in the school to benefit them
