The door began to crack, his boot puncturing it more and more with each forceful kick. That could be her soon, beaten, bruised, maybe even worse. Charles was always that way after a few drinks, so no need to worry, she would be fine, right?

A gust of wind rustled her curtains as she flipped through her tedious 450 annotated novel that is the great Romeo and Juliet. "They die," she thought. "Big whoop, everyone does. Why be scared? We all know it's coming, it'll be no shock to me." She repeated. Her thoughts had become darker and darker ever since she started doing what everyone else was. It's just weed, no big deal..

One year ago Jennifer Ziglund was a normal, well less than normal, 14 year old whose darkest moments were choosing which rock song she wanted to play. And a major nerd may I add. But what you don't understand about Jennifer, is who her family is. Clara and Ziggy Ziglund, the biggest, chillest, funniest potheads in Seattle. Everyone knew their names, they were at EVERY party and they were the least bit unapproachable. Jennifer had never felt the underlying pressure to be like her older siblings, but only being 2 years apart from the partying twins, Jennifer was in for a rude awakening when she would start HIGH school.

Jennifer had connections. All the older, cooler kids knew her, because of her siblings of course. But what she hadn't wanted was the attention of the "cool" kids of her grade to identify her too. If she were to ever consider associating herself with them, she'd always be known as a Clara or Ziggy's little sister. She had never contemplated future popularity, it just wasn't important to her... or was it.
