Brother
Ricardo and James were twins who grew up with a single parent, their mother. Antonia worked 2 jobs to keep food on their plate, a roof over there head, and clothes on there back. Their mother grew up poor. Ricardo and James' father died when they were only two. Ricardo was a playful kid who never said much 'till one day everything changed. James could hear one day, but the next day had to learn sign language. Ricardo lost communication with his brother.
James loved sports and continued to play soccer at a slower pace. When James could hear, He was the best player. Now with his disability it was harder for his teammates to communicate with him. The team slowly started to forget about James and turned their heads toward Ricardo. James started to use sign language which meant Ricardo and their mother had to learn it also. It was a struggle at first but it worked and they soon were able to communicate with him.
James still worked on his game, but was still a lot slower than the other kids. Meanwhile, Ricardo was the star of the team. They went on to a undefeated season and were in the championship game. They were beating everybody by a margin of 2 goals. James never got too play much. James missed the friendships and the good jobs by his teammates. All the kids soon forgot about him and put their focus into Ricardo. It made James furious and He started to work hard at soccer again.
James missed playing and wanted another shot. The championship game was this Wednesday. The Other team the Gladiators were also undefeated. Before the game Antonia called her son James over and in sign language told her son she is proud of him.
As the game started, Ricardo scored a goal right away. James didn't care about winning just as long as he got to play. James was a lot better player since becoming deaf. As the game went on James sat their patiently waiting for his goal. The score stayed at 1-0 for most of the game until the opposing team scored off a penalty shot. James' teammate also hurt himself on the same play. It was time for James to show his talent off again.
As James got in the game, only Ricardo was able to communicate with him. Ricardo told him to Just let the other players play and to stay still. James had a different plan as he hustled around the field. He stole the ball and started heading down the field. He passed the ball to Ricardo, Ricardo didn't have a clear shot at the goal with time expiring he passed the ball back to James. James thought about when he wasn't deaf. He thought about all he has been through and finally kicked the ball in the right corner of the goal post. James had finally felt the excitement he missed and was so used too. Although James was deaf it didn't stop him from playing.
