The pedestrian
20 October 2015
Mr. and Mrs. Mead were a happy and loving couple. But Mrs. Mead found out she was sick when she went to the doctors. She didn't want to tell Mr. Mead so she just kept it to herself. When she found out she was sick the doctors were just getting the technology that doctors use today. Technology was slowly becoming a huge role in people's lives at this time. Mrs. Mead didn’t know whether to listen to the doctors when they said she was ill. Cause who knows they could have been misusing the technology.
Mr. Mead had no idea that his wife was extremely ill with breast cancer. Mrs. Mead did not change how she acted around her family and friends and especially around her husband. She didn’t want Mr.Mead to have to worry about her and trying to figure out when she was going to pass away. So she just kept her mouth closed and didn’t say a word to Mr. Mead. Once technology had completely taken over no one was outside playing or just being outside to enjoy the weather. Even the police start to look at technology to run their jobs for them. The entire world is all about technology.
At night Mr. and Mrs. Mead would take late night strolls through their neighborhood and parks. They were out way past the normal curfew for people. But when you are over the age of 18 I guess it doesn’t really matter what time you come home at. If you are under the age 18 you have to be home by 10 on weeknights and 12 on weekends. The police aren’t usually out looking to see if there are any underage kids out. But one night there was a cop going around neighborhoods checking on everything to make sure it was safe for the people to be living there with kids. No one called or complained about noise or mysterious people. Once the cop came around the corner he spotted Mr. and Mrs. Mead. He stopped and asked what they were doing out so late and they told the cop they were just out for a late night stroll. The cop then asked them politely to return to their house. Mrs. Mead did what the cop asked. But Mr. Mead on the other hand stood there and asked the cop a ton of questions. He was asking “ why does it matter if we are out walking it's not like we are hurting anyone.” The cop didn’t answer and asked Mr. Mead to return to his house.
Finally Mr. Mead did what the policeman asked. The next morning it was around 5:30 am that is about the time Mrs. Mead gets up. Well Mrs. Meads alarm was going off and it kept going off so Mr. Mead woke up and turned off the alarm. Then he tried to wake his wife. After a couple minutes of trying he realized she wasn’t going to wake up so he called 911. Once the ambulance got to the house and took Mrs. Mead to the hospital the doctor came and talked to Mr. Mead. The doctor told him that he is sorry for his loss and that she was suffering from cancer. Mr. Mead couldn’t believe what he just heard. Mr. Mead went and sat with Mrs. Mead and just talked. After a little while Mr. Mead decided to go home. When he got home he just sat around and grieved. He still goes out for the late night walks. But now he goes by himself. One night when he was out for his walk a cop came and stopped him. It was the same cop that had stopped him and his wife the first time. The cop asked what Mr. Mead was doing and Mr. Mead just gave the cop a blank stare. Mr. Mead was very upset and uneasy. He had a pocket knife with him and a look on his face like he wanted to kill someone. After his wife had passed he was a completely different person and he wasn’t happy anymore. On one of his walks at night he decided to start walking through people’s yards and yell creepy things through their doors. Everyone got scared and locked every single door and window in their houses. No one came out. After many months the police caught Mr.Mead on the streets again around 11:30 at night. The cop decided to take matters into his own hands and he arrested Mr. Mead. He arrested Mr. Mead because he looked extremely suspicious and he had asked him to stop walking around late at night. Mr. Mead was put in jail for disobeying the police and for scaring the entire neighborhood. Once he was let out of jail 3 months later. The police put Mr. Mead in an assisted living to make sure he wouldn't be out walking and that he would get the help he needs with the grieving process. Mr. Mead was better within the 6 months that he was there and he was also attached to technology like everyone else.
