Decisons
How did we get here, guns blazing all around us, people screaming in terror, and cops surrounding us? How, how was this all possible? Maybe I should start from the beginning and you can help me figure this all out. For starters my name is Dan Horrigan. I was just your average teen I went to high school, got decent grades, and I had my issues like everyone else. I couldn’t complain about much, I had friends and I didn't get picked on so everything was well.
One day in high school my life changed forever. It seemed like just another normal day I woke up did what I had to do and then went to school. When I got to school as usual I met up with my friends Tommy, Jeffery, and Josh in the cafeteria. We all talked about the typical high school guy things, sex jokes, more sex jokes, even more sex jokes and whose mom is hot.
After breakfast we all went on to our classes. As the day went on I started to have a feeling like something bad was going to happen. Sure enough something very bad was about to happen. During the last period of the day I received a call from my mother. She told me that when I got home we had to pack our things and move to my Aunt Dianne's house. The bank was going to take our home away. When I heard the news instantly I went into a rage. I stormed out of class and then went directly home.
When I got home my mother was there crying in the kitchen. I ran over to her and told her everything would be ok, that I would find a way to keep the house. I went over thousands of reasons in my head and the most illogical idea seemed the most logical.
It was so irrational and insane but I believed it was the only way. Getting a job wouldn't provide enough money in the amount of time we had. I knew what I had to do.
The next day I went into school and gathered up Tommy, Jeffery, and Josh. Once everyone was gathered I told them my plan. They all thought I was crazy but I assured them I was very serious. I told them we were the perfect team to pull something like this off. Tommy was a computer nerd, Jeffery was a chemistry freak, and Josh was sort of let's just say an experimenter. We had everything we needed to execute my plan, except for the product. That's where Jeffery and Josh came in. We needed something that people would get hooked on and keep coming back for.
When I finally persuaded everyone to help me, with promises of lots of money of course we skipped school and went right to Josh's dealer. We bought basically everything he had then went to Jeffery's house. Jeffery had a little chemistry lab set up in his garage so that's where we set up shop. We took everything we bought and diced it all up then ground it into a fine powder. We separated the substances and began to brain storm on what would be the best combination for our super drug. We created each combination and had Josh test them out because he was the most experienced with that stuff. Once we had the right recipe it was time to mass produce and move the product.
We had Tommy set up an online store that couldn't be traced. Now we needed a name for the drug, something that sounded attractive to the teenage population. We came up with the name Sky A.S.D (acid shroom drops). Rightfully so our website had to have a cool name too so we came up with the name Skynet. The name was simple to remember and contained half of the drugs name. Also it didn't sound like a site you would sell drugs off of.
The next day at school we heard of a huge party some jock on the football team was having. Knowing that he was pretty popular we decided it'd be a good idea to spread the word about Sky at his party. On the day of the party we packed a bag full of Sky and went on our way. Like I predicted there was tons of people there so we handed out a few samples and some business cards. After the party we had already made at least 50 costumers.
Let's fast forward a few weeks, by week 5 we had been expanding our business pretty discreetly and raking in all of the cash. Things were going smoothly. With every tax free dollar I took in ten more went to the house and it was pretty much paid off by week 6. There was one little thing that I didn't plan for though, and that was the government getting nosey. I guess they thought the vast amounts of money being put into the house was a little suspicious. Not to mention there was a new drug going around that everyone seemed to be in love with. I have no clue how either of those things could go together on the same puzzle in the government's mind. By this time I was starting to get a little more paranoid, I went out less and wore more to disguise my identity and fall back into the shadows.
By week 8 things really started to get tight. Tommy, Jeffery, Josh, and I were terrified of being caught and this left us vulnerable. We were scared so we slowed down the production and distribution for a while. We rarely sold anything so we all started to go broke again. We went from selling 3 kilos a week to selling 10 grams a month.
Eventually Jeffery became desperate he needed more money and he wasn't going to get a job. In desperation Jeffery got sloppy, he made a deal with random people he never met before. When he went to the rendezvous point he noticed no one was there. All of the sudden 10 guys came out and jumped Jeffery, they beat him up bad and stole everything from him.
Even the thieves got sloppy. They tried to sell Sky for themselves and got caught the instant they tried. They bragged to all their friends about all the Sky they had and how they planned to sell it. Officers at their school caught on to thier plans and since the kids were stupid enough to hide the Sky in their lockers, along with all of Jeffery's possessions, they got caught. Since they got caught ultimately that meant we were screwed too.
Now the cops had all of Jeffery's information which meant they had ours too. Once we found out that Jeffery had been robbed and the cops had his things it was too late to go anywhere. They had us in check mate. The next day Jeffery was arrested in school and taken in for questioning.
Tommy, Josh, and I were so paranoid at this point we carried guns with us everywhere we went even to school. We all thought Jeffery was gonna hand us in. We were right too, Jeffery told the cops everything. They came after me first. When the cops showed up to my house I knew I had been caught. I told my mother that I loved her, ran to my room grabbed all of my guns, put them in a bag then I ran out the back door before the cops could surround the house. The first place I could think to go was Josh's house since he lived the closest to me. By the time I got there I could hear the sirens, they were almost here. I ran into Josh's house and warned him that we had to leave now, he gathered all of his things and we ran out. Now we were off to Tommy's house.
When we arrived to Tommy's house the cops were already there, but they didn't have him. They were searching for Tommy so that meant that he got out in time. Now all we had to do was get out of there and find Tommy. Instead Tommy found us when we were about 5 blocks from his house. Now that the gang was together minus that snitch Jeffery we had to devise a plan. We managed to avoid the cops for a night and that seemed like it was going to be impossible. Now we had to constantly look over our shoulders.
The paranoia ate us alive. The cops were closing in and we had nowhere to hide. Eventually a full day had pass after we got away from the cops and we were extremely fatigued, so we found a quiet spot and rested. When we woke up we were starving so we decided we needed to get food. We waited until it was dark and we went out back into the city to get some food. We went into a supermarket to get as much food as we could. We knew we were gonna be on the run for a while. I was so paranoid I looked over my shoulder at least 100 times from the entrance to the produce Isle. I thought we were pretty lucky to have not gotten spotted but I spoke to soon. Just as we were about to make our way to the cash register we were spotted by two cops one of them just so happened to be the cop that worked at our school. There was nowhere to run this time so out of fear Tommy pulled out his gun and opened fire on the two cops. He missed the cops and hit a civilian. At this time people were screaming, running around, and the cops were calling for back up. Tommy, Josh, and I ran to the meat section and hopped behind the counter, we had to find a way out. But all of the emergency exits were crowded with people trying to escape. We were trapped, there was nowhere to go.
Before I knew it cops were flooding in. Tommy had already fired at the cops so they weren't going to take us in gently. We had to fight back. As the cops came running in we were taking them out one by one but we were severely outnumbered. We were done for. In the heat of the chaos Josh snuck away and found an exit through the meat locker. When he came back we all made a break for it, I thought we were going to get away again, but our luck truly ran out. When we opened the door there was a barricade of cop cars waiting for us and helicopters circling the supermarket. They told us to put our guns down, I dropped my gun instantly and Josh followed my lead. Tommy on the other hand fired at the cops and killed an officer, so every single cop that was outside simultaneously fired at Tommy, he was Swiss cheese by the time he hit the ground. A stray bullet from the hundreds of rounds fired at Tommy struck Josh in his chest and he fell to the ground. I let out a yell and dove for my friend as I caught Josh in my arms cops busted through the meat locker exit.
I was surrounded both of my friends dead right in front of me. I was the only one left. I was arrested and taken into custody where I awaited my trial. I was automatically given the death sentence. I had a month before my execution.
They threw me in jail and couldn't wait to get rid of me. As I sit in my cell writing this to you now I pray no one goes down the path I took and goes through what I did. It's been 2 weeks since I was thrown in this hell hole having nothing to look forward too but my own death. My mother hasn't even come to see me once, so by tomorrow I'll be gone not by the executioner but by my own hands. I'm going to hang myself tonight so these are my last words. If you're going through a rough patch in life don't take the easy way out just stay strong and take the smart way out. Goodbye I hope you've learned something from my story.
I hereby certify that this is my own writing and is completely original.
