Last week, I witnessed an ugly incident where one of my friends was falsely accused of theft
It was Friday afternoon and as usual the netball team had gathered for practice in the school's netball court. We usually leave our bags and belongings under a tree but we could not do so on that day as the ground was soggy after a heavy shower. So we found an empty classroom and left our belongings there.
During the break, my friend, Amy volunteered to go to the classroom to take our water bottles. We drank thirstily and then resumed playing. When we returned to the classroom after practice, one of the players, Anis, realized that her mobile phone was missing. She immediately accused Amy of stealing it as she was the only one who had
come back to the classroom.
Amy denied it and began crying. However, Anis refused to withdraw her accusation and continued blaming Amy. Everyone searched for the mobile phone but it was nowhere to be found. The team members left the school wit heavy hearts, and Amy looked dejected as she walked off.
The next day, Anis came to school looking very sheepish. She admitted that she had actually forgotten to bring her phone for netball practice. She had found the phone in her room. She apologised to Amy for the misunderstanding. Amy accepted her apology but their relationship was strained from that point on as the incident had left a bad taste in Amy's mouth.
