The worst day of my life
“Maybe I should. Or shouldn’t I?’’ Signing up for the science fair is hard. I am a nerd, so I want to. But crumbly papers, houses full of this project. I might. Let me think.
“Yes. Yes I will do it.” I was going to find a idea soon. But I have to think of one tonight. I really need to get started.
I was sitting at my white marble desk, and had many papers. I had ideas and ideas flowing through my brain. But none of them would work. I did not have enough time. My small wired trash can was full of papers. They looked like really old and wrinkly white balls. I had so many pencil tips on my desk. My pencil had probably broke ten times in the last five minutes.
“Breakfast is ready!” My mom yells from downstairs.
‘’What?’’ I yelled back. I must have been up all night. My room a foot deep in papers. No ideas, still. I had dark circles under my eyes, like the color of a bruise. It was very noticeable. I put as much moisturizer and makeup on as I could, but there was a problem. It didn’t help. I come down, to eat breakfast and get ready for school. I take on bite of my burnt toast with old jelly, and one sip of milk. The school bus is here.
“Have fun at school!’’ my mom said as I walked slowly out the door.
‘’Great. I got no sleep, had one bite of horrible toast, and have no idea for the fair.’’ I said to my best friend Shelby. She has been there all my life, even this exact second. Shelby is the average kid in school, a few B’s and a few A’s. But she looks like me in a way. A more oval face, brown hair, hazel eyes, and about 5’ tall. Later that day was worse. Tests in all my classes I had not studied for, and they were chapter tests. The tests you take every month on what you have learned in this chapter of the book. Science was populations. Boring stuff I already know. Social Studies was on South America. Orchestra was scales.( D major, C major, and G major.) Language arts was a program we do called Achieve 3000. It is a reading and answering questions kind of program. My least favorite class, math. It was a big exam. P.E was a few tests. Like push up tests or curl up tests. To see strength and how many you can do in one time period. And my mastery or enrichment class was creative writing. There was no test in this class, but you really never get tests in this class anyways.
I got home from school that day. ‘’What a clumsy way to spend a birthday!!!’’ I yelled running in the door. I stopped in my tracks. I saw something out of the corner of my eye. A balloon. I walk around the corner, and I see every one. I had known something was going on when Shelby left early from school today. There they were, standing there all covered in balloons and streamers. . Shelby, mom, dad, grandpa, grandma, uncle, aunt Sarah. They had all been gathered around waiting for me.
‘’SURPRISE!!’’ yelled everyone! I wish I had never thought this day would get worse… But instead everything had changed around. An hour or so into the party I heard a voice.’’Who want’s cake?’’ My mom yelled around. Many voices at different time all said one thing. Me. The word of any birthday party, me. The sky had changed from a gloomy dark grey and rainy to a beautiful baby blue with the sun shing. The cake was a chocolate ice cream cake with hot pink icing. The top had been iced with the words in purple’ Happy 12th birthday. It made my day turn around from -100 to 100.
‘’Thank you. Thank you all so much.’’
