Finding beauty-Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Three years ago, I was wondering the halls at my elementary school when I heard a sudden highly pitched cry, from a nearby girl’s restroom. I stumbled in and spotted the peach colored stall it was coming from. I sincerely asked, “Are you ok?”
The reply came as a weak noise “I-I Really need help!!!”
The girl came out it to the dimly lit bathroom. I asked what her name was and if she needed the counselor’s office or the nurse.
She replied with a faint sound “I-I I’m Mary and all I need is a counselor”
I walked her down to Mrs. Aims but immediately Mary fell to her knees and screeched “WHY DOESN’T MY MOM CARE!!!”
Mrs. Aims suddenly looked up and asked “Mary?” sounding confused.
I asked to confirm that Mrs. Aims would take care of this poor girl. She softly replied “yes…I know this young lady very well.”
As I walked away I overheard Mrs. Aims ask Mary if she had followed her instructions. But as I exited the main office where Mrs. Aims office had been I could only hear the sound of Mary whisper “no and I’m really sorry, but I couldn’t.” The rest of the day I wondered what was that girl told to do that she didn’t or couldn’t. Two later I saw the girl again sitting alone under a bare oak tree at recess. I approached her slowly and simply asked “Want to play don’t touch the ground with my friends and I?” she raised her head and said “Sure” I was thrilled to hear her want to join in. Slowly we bonded and here we are now today best friends still.
When I asked Mary if she would come to my house because my parents and I had some things we needed to talk to her about she simply said “ what time you want me to be there?”
I replied with “you get a ride home with me”
Mary agreed that that plan would work and we went on with our day. After school I found Mary and we headed to my house. After telling Mary our plan her only question was “Where will I live then?” We all replied with “Either here with your dad or you will stay at your house with your dad.” Mary said ok and was all for what we had planned. After she left we all felt a swish of relief, because her being on board was going to make this a lot easier on my family.
