Once a Gamer - Always a Gamer
Hi, I’m Mitch, or Mitchell but whatever you like to go by. I don’t know why I am writing to you I am writing to you but since I started I guess I might as well just finish. Not writing to anyone specifically. I am going to talk about how I became a gamer or started out to play so I hope you like it.
If you like and play video games everyday and like the c--- out of them then welcome to the club, but if you don’t then go buy a video game that you like and play it. Become one of us.
To the gamers that are reading this, my story might take you back to memory lane and might even make you say, “I remember doing that” or “I remember playing this”. You know just the normal stuff and to the people that are not gamer are probably here wondering when I’m going to start the story so that is now.
I started playing games since I was 4 years old. I used to watch my mom play. These Atari games on the computer. It looked pretty cool, but I didn’t have the guts to ask my mom that I wanted to play. One day I finally asked my mom if I could play .
“Hey mom,” I said.
“Yes Mitchell,” she said back.
“I was wondering if I can play when you’re done,” I said back watching my mom paused her game and to turn around to look at me.
“Look Mitchell, you don’t even know the concept of the game and to top it off, you don’t even know the controls so I’m sorry but no”
“Oh, okay, I’ll just watch then” My mom smiled and she went back to her game. I continued watching and watching... and watching and then my mom got off.
“I’m going to get ready for work, don’t wake up your bother and your favorite cereal is on the counter with your bowl and you know where the milk is” she said as she was turning off the computer and going into the her room.
“Okay mom.”
I went the kitchen and made myself some cereal and as I was eating all I could think about was the atari game and wondering what the game was called because I liked that game and I’m not going to lie because it looked pretty cool and the shapes on it to. My came out of her room wearing her work clothes and she came to me and give me a kiss on the cheek and told me goodbye. I finished eating my cereal and put my dishes in the sink and washed my bowl out and went into the living room. I watched my mom get into her car and as she was backing out of the driveway, she saw me and waved bye then left. I walked to the the room to see if my brother was there but he was with my dad fishing so I was home by myself but when I walked by the computer I thought about the game and smiled.
I turned on the game and started playing a game called centipede the first time I played it I died because I really did not know on what to do, I tried it again and died. I told myself that I wouldn’t look the control on how to play so I found out myself and a couple of hours I was getting better and better. I died at level 9 and I was feeling pretty good about myself, it tried a different game and it was called tempest, the game I saw my mom played before she left for work and just remembering how I saw my mom struggle on this game I know that I would be to. I tried it out and I remembered my mom fingers on the keyboard. I didn’t die on my first time, I went to level 2 and then died but I tried it again and died on the same level. I was starting to get a little frustrated because I keep dying on the same level. I tried it again and used a different tactic or strategy and survived longer and died on level 13.
That’s how it all started for me and now I played ps3 games but not really much ps4, don’t like the fact that I have to pay to play online. Every know I go back and play namco and atari games, I love tempest, it’s one of my favorite atari games.
I played a game called Call of Duty Black Ops and I didn’t really like the multiplayer but I play zombies and it even takes me back to when I was playing tempest, I always use different kinds of strategies just to farther and farther on that game mode and turns out, it works.
One day at school a teacher of mine bought a Gamecube to school with him, i’m sorry that I left this out but after the atari games my mom got a gamecube and we all played namco games on it and then after that my uncle got a ps2 for us and now i’m on ps3, I have played on a nintendo 64 but I really sucked at some games on their and believe me it was sad.. Gosh I still can’t believe that I forgot to tell you that part in this story.
He said after we are done with our work we can play on it. After we did get done with everything only three of us students out of the whole classroom, played on the gamecube with our teacher. The game was called Super Smash Brothers and to some of, ya’ll this game and sounds really familiar to you. This game probably it takes you back when you beat your friends when they came to your house but yeah, I remember playing it and I sucked horribly at and let me tell you something when I played this game with my teacher I sucked miserably. I suck so bad at this game some of your old grandmas and grandpas would beat me with their eyes closed.
We played a couple of games and I lost because I kept falling off the map or, getting knocked out of the map by my teacher. After we got done playing I rolled up on of his controllers and told him thank you for letting me play and as I went back home I did my chores and sat down on my bed and turned on my ps3 and t.v I started thinking and said to myself “I wish things were like the good old days.”
