Missing Boy By Armani Ramsey
Both him and I breathing hard. Sweat running down my face dripping into my eyes. “Give it up…its over” I said in between breaths. His hood covered his face, but yet I could somehow feel the emotion. He picked up his hands and lowered his hoodie…
Earlier that day…
I sat in my 2nd period class listing to the teacher teach her lesson. But the class room door opened and in came a police officer. The whole class shifted their attention to the officer and we watched as he walked over to the teacher and whispered something in her ear. The teacher scanned the class room until her eyes fell on me she then gave me a head jester telling me to come to her. I stood up and grabbed my bag and slowly walked to the front of the class I could feel the eyes of the students watch me. “What is going on” I questioned as I approached the teacher and the officer. “Are you Mercadi Smith” the officer said to me. I nodded my head yes. “Please come with me” the officer said. I followed him out of the class room and into the empty hallway. “Can you please tell me what is going on” I said. The officer took a deep breath and said “Your brother is missing and your family is waiting for you down stairs” he said. I could feel my stomach drop quickly, it felt like those words stabbed my heart. I brushed past the officer and ran down the hall as fast as I could. So many thoughts was running through my head, me and my brother are very close ever since birth being the fact that we are twins. I approached the office to see my parents standing in there, I ran up and immediately hugged them. “What happened” I said. “Manny has been missing since last night, we thought he went to school this morning early but come to find out his bed was never even slept in” my mother said. “well why are we just standing around here shouldn’t we be looking for him” I said in a panic. “Relax there are cops out already looking for him” My father said to me. I took a deep breath trying to calm myself down. “For right now all there is to really do is to wait while the officers do their jobs” my father said. I nodded my head. A man walked over to us, he was tall so I had to look up to him and he wore a black suit. “I am detective Andrews and I will be investigating your loved one’s case, first is there anything you would like to tell me about the missing person” he said. “Manny…his name is many not missing person just Manny” I said. “Excuse me, is there anything about Manny that we should know about that would help us with this case” He said. I thought hard about anything out of the ordinary, when something came to mind. But as I was about to say something I was cut off by my father, “No nothing he was just a normal teenage boy” he said. I gave him a confused look but I could tell he just ignored it. “Well we would be investigating Manny’s case, the best thing for you to do is wait at home in hope for his return” the detective said. “We’ll do” my father said. My mother and father both turned to the door, “I’ll meet you guys at home” I said. “Alright” my mother said then they walked out. “Um excuse me detective Andrews” I said. “Yes” he said looking down at me. “I would like to help with the investigation sir” I said. He chuckled “you are just a kid” he said then he turned and walked away. Looks like I have to take things in my own hands. I walked out of the office and down the hall, soon I approached mannys locker. “15..26..31” I said to myself as I turned the dial on the lock, and with one tug it opened. I searched threw his books and papers, until a little pink paper caught my eye at the bottom. I reached down and picked it up and it said
“Email: Smithm45@Yahoo.com Password: Teen1212”
This must be the information to his email. A loud ringing caught me off guard but I realized it was just the bell instructing the students to move to their next period. Soon the halls filled with students, so I stuffed the paper in my back pocket and headed to the computer room.
I looked in the window of the computer room and saw that it was empty so I slipped in locking the door behind me. I sat at one of the computers and turned it on. I took the note out of my back pocket and copied the information. The log in was successful, so I started looking for proof anything that could lead me to where my brother went. I came across messages between him and an unknown. I read through them but as I was reading I heard kids out side of the room door trying to get in the locked room. I started reading faster and I came across an address, the unknown told manny to meet up at 8:00 pm at 119 Walker street. I wrote down the information quick and shoved it in my back pocket, I stood up and walked out.
It took me a little while to find the address because I was on bike, but after a 2 hours of looking I finally found it. It was a old dirty warehouse that looked like it hasn’t been used in years. I hoped off my bike and begin to make my way up to the door. I touched the door and I easily opened like it has already been forced opened. I looked around scanning the room but it was nothing but space and dirt. I looked at my watch, 5:00pm it said so I still have time. “Manny” I screamed, I could hear my voice echo.
All of a sudden I felt a sharp pain hit the back of my head and I hit the floor fast. I winced in pain, I felt my head and could feel the blood. I looked up and saw a figure run up the stairs to the second level but my eyes was getting blurry. I slowly stood up and rubbed my eyes. “Where are you keeping my brother” I screamed. I looked up to see a flying brick coming right at me, I throw myself out the way and watched it hit the floor. I stood up fast and grabbed the same brick then I ran up the stairs. When I got to the top I saw a tall figure with a black hoodie covering its face. “I don’t know who you are but I want my brother!” I screamed, I took my arm back and threw the brick as hard as I could hitting the person right in the head. The person turned fast a dodged out the window. I quickly followed and saw that we was on a roof. The wind was blowing hard and it was calm outside, nobody even had any idea the danger I am in. I heard movement behind me so I turned quickly I could see the person running. I ran fast after him but the person stopped at the edge of the roof, as I got closer I could tell the person was a man just by the built. He turned around slowly.
Both him and I breathing hard. Sweat running down my face dripping into my eyes. “Give it up…its over” I said in between breaths. His hood covered his face, but yet I could somehow feel the emotion. He picked up his hands and lowered his hoodie. “Manny” I said in shock. “Just let me be I don’t understand why you can’t just let me go” he said with tears running down his face. “Why did you run away…you seemed so happy now” I said. “Nobody really knew how I felt, nobody knew the depression that was taking over my body and the darkness that was taking over my mind, nobody ever sees when the person right in front of them if dying inside” he said. “Why didn’t you tell us? This is not the way we could save you” I said with now tears running down my face. “There is nothing you can do my mind was messed up anyway” he said. He took one step back falling off the roof. I dodged forward just in time to be able to grab him by his hood. “Give me your arm” I screamed. “Let me go” he screamed back, “Im not giving up on you” I screamed. He looked up at me with fear in his eyes, I could feel his hood slipping out of my hand. Just in that moment he reached up and grabbed my arm, “Thank you” he said low.
THE END.
