7.3 Deisel

In the barn, it is quiet but noisy at the same time. The pulsators ticking rhythmically, and the chewing of the hay in the cow's mouth. Joey walks in “Why are you listening to nothing? The radio is right there just turn it on.”
Tyson Yells  “It’s broke. You would know that if you would help once in awhile!” Tyson, a beast of a man, was having a bad day which burnt his already short fuse. First the cows got out which took him all morning to get in. Then the milk truck showed up late which is going to make Tyson late to his meeting tonight.
Joey blurts out, “You would be one to talk. You don’t even milk the whole milking. You have to get Moe out here to milk for you. You get payed when he works. I wasn't here because I broke my arm.” Joey's large arm, swollen and red was throbbing. With every heartbeat it seemed to get worse.
“Yea, yea, yea whatever.” Tyson was not going to start an argument with Joey. He was just done.
Feet acing, they walked on the hard cement milking the cows. After they were half done milking Joey starts telling Tyson about the trucks he is looking at on craigslist. “I found this 7.3 black Ford with nasty mud tires. It looks amazing, no rust or engine problems.”
Tyson asks, “Well why don't you just go buy the truck so you can stop talking about this truck and that truck. I mean really how long can you talk about trucks.” Joey didn’t respond so about 5 seconds later Tyson said, “Well?”
“You know why. It is because i don’t have the money,” Joey responded.
”Then stop looking at trucks.”
“What if the perfect truck comes up? Then I know in need to buy it.”
Tyson “ If you don't have the money, then it doesn't matter. Just look when you have money to get a truck.”
Joey’s face got beet red. He blurted out “Fine than i will go get the truck with money from the bank. That way I can roll around in a wicked diesel.” Those were the last words spoke that evening. Tyson and Joey just were not in a friendly or talkative mood.

After the milkers were put in the milk house, Tyson started to wash the equipment, Joey left the barn. He hopped in his rusty 1994 chevy, stepped the clutch and started it up. He ripped out the driveway with Jason Aldean’s “Amarillo Sky” on the radio and was on his way home. With the road behind him filling up with dust, swerving on the gravel made him feel like a million bucks.
Joey called his friend sam “Hey sam do you want to come with me to buy a truck up in Rochester area?”
Sam said “Sure sounds like fun. What truck are looking at?”
Joey replied “I found this nice 7.3 ford. It has a tuner, wicked mud tires and there is no rust on it.”
Sam asks “So when are we going to get that truck?”
Joey answers “Well I was thinking that this friday at about oh let’s say 12 or 1 so I can be back for work.”
“Just let me know where to meet before we go,” Sam said
“Will do. See you then.” As joey hung up he was pulling into his driveway. The sky looked wonderful. The sun was going down, and the sky was changing colors from an orangish yellow to a purple. He was gazing at the colors as he walked to the door.
                                               .   .   .
“Well what’s joing on Joey?” The banker asked as Joey walked in his office.
Joey said “I want to buy a truck up in Rochester. I have everything set except the money.”
“I think I can help you with that Joey just wait here and I'll get the paperwork.” The banker left to get the paperwork, and Joey thought to himself.
“Well that was easier than I thought.” Then the banker walked back in and sat down with a folder full of papers.”Do I have to sign all of those. That seems a little excessive.”
“Oh, no a lot if this is just legal mumbo jumbo. You only have to sign like 4 places. Then you will be on your way with your money to get your wicked truck.” He said with a smile on his face.
“Good, I was hoping to get the truck later today.” Joey was glad it wouldn't take too long.
The banker said “I hope you have a good trip up to Rochester.”
“Thanks, I’ll see you later.” Joey walked out of the bank with the cash in his hand. All he has to do now is get sam and go.
.   .   .
“Hop in, let's go.” Joey yelled. Sam jumped in and Joey hammered on the gas to get going.
Sam asked “Do you think this old beater will make it up to Rochester?”
“It better, it’s all I have to get up there. At least on the way home I can ride in a nice Ford.” Joey replied
Sam blurted out ”You mean I have to drive this on the way back.” They both started to laugh hysterically. As they both quit laughing, Joey tuned the radio to a clear country station. Sam looked at something on his phone. For a long time they just sat there and listened to the radio. The sun shined, and with the humidity the breeze through the windows was barely enough.
About an hour later sam asked “How long is this trip supposed to take?”
Joey responds very slowly with ”oh about 3 hours one way.”
.   .   .
As they drive up to the truck Joey gazes at the beautiful Ford sitting in this guys yard that Joey is going to buy. It looks as glossy as undisturbed water on a calm day. Joey and Sam get out and walk up close to the Ford. Right then the owner comes out of his house and asks “Is there anything you would like to see first before you buy the truck? It is pretty much what I said it was.”
“The pictures of the truck are exactly what the truck looks like. Usually the pictures don't show any rust on trucks that are rusty but this truck is beautiful. I guess I would like to give it a test drive before we settle up.”
“Sounds great hop in and take it for a drive. I think you will like it.” The owner says when Joey climbs in the truck. Joey grabs the keys and starts it up. The engine growls. Joey get goose bumps as he puts it into gear and pulls it out the driveway. He pulls around the block, and he is sold. This is the right truck.
Joey climbs out of the truck and says “you're right I do like the ride. I'm sold on it.” After a couple of minutes the truck is sold and Joey is electric. He has the jitters. He can't wait to drive the beast of a truck home, and show everyone the new truck.
