The lost Children of Africa
One perticurly hot day when they had been marching for what seemed like ever. They entured a jungle again and the day wore one just all the ones before it.The many muddied feet tiptoed quickly through the streambed. The hushed whispers from the children reminded Abah of when the rain would hit against the tin roof of her house. She whipped her sweaty brow the humid jungle air stuck to her like the sticky koeksisters her mother would earily in the morning.Suddenly there came a sharp scream from the back of the line someone had spotted soilders.Quickly the children began to run Abah heard the shouts of soilders and screams of children.Abah suddenly made a sharp turn and hid underneath a fallen log,she heard the sounds of gunfire and the crunch of leaves as people ran they where quick and light so she knew they where kids. But,then she heard the thundering sounds of the soilders she did not dare move she stay completly still eve though chaos errupted around her.The thundering sounds got louder and closer and closer and closer then they stopped Abah was almost about to let out a sigh when a giant black boot came crashing down on inches away from her face she quickly put her hand over her mouth to keep herself from screaming. She saw the nozzle of a gun but it was quickly pulled away and the boot turned and ran off in a different direction Abah didn't dare move she just laid there quietly. She heard the soft cries of her fellow friends and children but they all eventually faded away, and Ahbah found herself once again alone. She was afraid to move afraid to do anything she had crammed her body tightly into the space underneath the tree trunk. She stayed there until she could no longer keep her eyes open,so she fell asleep to the sound of her heart racing rapidly. She woke up the next day alone once again nothing but the dried grass made a sound.Abah continued to walk in the direction they had been on before the soldiers came.Day and days Abah had lost track a long time ago she had long forgotten the smiling faces of her friends when they would sing nursery rhymes and tunes. As Abah was walking and pondering her past life she looked at only her feet. She did not even reilize people where running over to her they wore blue clothes and their skin was white she had never seen these people before. They all had cold circle things they would press against her chest and they looked at her feet and hands everything in the room around her was whitle and clean the air was clean and easy to breath it wasnt hot but cool. She looked over to see oneof her freinds she reached out her hand to here friend
“My friend you are still alive,I thought I was alone again”she said
“Abah i'd never be able to leave you alone you'd always come and find me”she said back
They held hands for a long time they walked out of the white tend to see many other children some with bandages others with none. She smiled she was not alone any more.A man walked up to Abah and got on his knees so her was eye level.
He looked at her and said, “Hello there little one what is your name”
She looked at the man and said
"My name is Abah,"
