Don't take people for granted

My name is Natalie Thompson, and I am gonna tell you about a night that I will never forget. It was the night of December 5 , 2015. I will start the story off with the beginning of my day. It was about 9:00 when I woke up.

The smell of bacon, eggs, and pancakes filled my room. My mom really knew how to wake me. I was exhausted from the night before but the smell of breakfast was too strong to lay in bed any longer. So I quickly got out of bed and ran downstairs hoping my brothers had not already eaten all of the food. My little sister was a late sleeper so I was not too worried about her. When I got downstairs I found some pancakes, but there was not any bacon or eggs left.

After eating what was left of the pancakes I called my best friend Grace to come pick me up because we were going to the mall. There was gonna be a party later that night and we wanted to get dresses or something nice to wear.  I was supposed to help my boyfriend with some project that night but I was sure he would not care if I went to the party instead. On the way to the mall we got starbucks since we were still half asleep. Once we got to the mall we went to Maurices. Grace got a blue dress and I got a matching one.

Later that night during the party, Grace suggested that we have a few drinks. I agreed but I  told myself no more than two. Shortly after having “a few drinks” Grace was too intoxicated to drive. I did not have a license at the time though and I did not want to take the chance of us wrecking, so I called my boyfriend Ashton to pick us up at about 1 am. When he answered the phone and I told him I was at a party he got angry but he said he’ll be here soon. While waiting for him, Grace and I danced.

Once he got to the party he called for me to come outside. After helping Grace to the car I got in the front seat.

Ashton looked at me angrily and said “I was working on our science project you promised you would help me with tonight, and I get a call that you are at some party?”

I sighed and said “I thought you would not care.”

When we pulled out of the driveway and we got down the road , He started yelling at me about being irresponsible and then said that Grace was a bad influence on me.

I said “It was my idea to come to the party Ashton and do not yell at me for being irresponsible what are you my father?!”

he replied with “No i’m just worried about you all you do is party all the time and it seems like you do not care about anyone but yourself.”

I didn’t know what to say to that so I said “Whatever , I hate you!”

I knew i would regret that later, but before he could reply everything went black. I don’t remember anything after that. All I remember is waking up in a hospital bed. The room was so silent and dark. I tried to get up but I felt a strong pain. So I just stayed still waiting for someone to come in. Finally after about thirty minutes of silence the doctor walked in.

“Oh good you are awake.” he says.

I looked at him confused and said “What happened?”

he said “You were in a wreck.” at the time I could not remember anything that had happened but I got my memory back later on.

“Who else was in the wreck?” I asked in a concerned voice. He told me it was Ashton and Grace. I began to worry and I asked if they were injured.

He hesitates for a moment and then says “Ashton is dead Natalie.” my heart drops and my eyes fill with tears.

“Is Grace okay?” I ask.

“She’s okay just a few small injuries.” I am relieved and I ask if she can come in the room. When she comes in we talk, and soon after talking with her my memory comes back and I regret everything I said. I then realized I should have never taken him for granted.
