Losing to Fear
I walk past him and our eyes connect. In that moment my heart yells at me, telling me it’s not right. I see the pain in his eyes and he sees the confusion in mine. I want to do something. I’m too scared, I can’t. I tear my eyes away from his strong gaze to look at the emptiness in the dark of the floor. I keep walking. I could have done something. I should have done something.
