**Lucy**
"Okay, so what do you think that old guy on the bench is thinking?" I ask my best friend, Connor.
"Well Lucy. I will tell you. Right now he is thinking about every mistake he's every made. Mostly the one's in high school, and mostly about love." Connor responds.
"Well, Connor, I will tell you what. I think he's thinking about where the nearest bathroom is and if he can hold it. But hey, agree to disagree?" I elbowed him in the side and smiled, but Connor didn't smile back. I run my fingers through my hair, trying to figure out what he's thinking. Luckily he interrupts my train of thought.
"You see, the thing about people, is that we find it completely impossible to tell each other how we feel, until someone's gone. And I think that's why funerals bug me so much. It's like, people who didn't have the balls to tell each other how they felt about that person, but now they're gone. It's not like they can hear you, but hey let's all say nice things about them." Connor ranted to me. I kind of love it when he rants. A vein pops out in his neck, and his jaw tightens, and his eyes focus straight ahead.
I turned on the park bench and looked him in the eye. "Alright then, let's tell each other exactly how we feel. Right here, right now." My voice shook as I say those words.
I exactly know how I feel about Connor. He's my best friend, my first love, he's always on my mind. He is the most amazing person I've ever known. He's my everything. And he has no idea.
"Deal. You first?" Connor asks. At least now he is smiling.
"Not even, you go."
"Alright... Let's see..." He squints his eyes a little, the same way he always does when he's thinking really hard.

**Connor**
"Okay, so what do you think that old guy on the bench is thinking?" Lucy asked me with glowing eyes. Gosh I loved those eyes. I could tell she was trying to get me to rant to her, she always thinks it's entertaining when I rant.
"Well Lucy, I will tell you. Right now he is thinking about every mistake he's every made. Mostly the one's in high school, and mostly about love." I said.
"Well, Connor, I will tell you what. I think he's thinking about where the nearest bathroom is and if he can hold it. But hey, agree to disagree?" She elbowed me in the side. I just... I really love how she can turn everything into a joke. She does that a lot, you know? The thing is, I just love Lucy. I love how she runs her fingers through her fiery red hair. I love the freckles that dot her face, and I just love her.
I can tell she feel uncomfortable with my silence.
"You see, the thing about people, is that we find it completely impossible to tell each other how we feel, until someone's gone. And I think that's why funerals bug me so much. It's like, people who didn't have the balls to tell each other how they felt about that person, but now they're gone. It's not like they can hear you, but hey let's all say nice things about them." I can feel Lucy staring at me, studying my facial expressions.
"Alright then, let's tell each other exactly how we feel. Right here, right now." Lucy said as she turned to face me. She had that same glow in here eyes, the way she always did when she had a plan. She had on that half smile that didn't show her teeth. Gosh, I want to kiss that girl.
"Deal. You first?" I asked with a smile.
"Not even, you go." She said, her eyes still glowing.
"Alright... Let's see..." It's now, or never. I cleared my throat and reached for her hand. "Lucy, you are the most beautiful person I've ever met. Every time a guy looks your way, I get extremely jealous and feel like punching him in the face. Every time I hear your name, my heart skips a beat. Every time I see you, I get butterflies. And..." my voice trails off. I can't say those three words. Lucy interrupts me.
"Well I guess it's my turn now." She says.

**Lucy**
I- I can't believe he... He feels that way... His hand's sweating. He's nervous. Mine's probably sweating too.
"Connor." I said. His face is red, and he's staring at our hands. "I-" My voice is shaking so much I can't talk. There's only one thing to do.

**Connor**
As Lucy backs away from the kiss, I can see her smiling, and I can feel myself smiling too.
"You have no idea how long I've wanted to kiss you, Lucy." I said with a chuckle. She laughs, gosh I love that laugh.

**Old Man on Bench**
