Oh Autumn!
Maybe it was a lucky day or it was just the weather. Autumn has always had it's effect over me.
When days are shorter and nights turn colder, you subconsciously feel the magic in the air. A regular morning which turned out to be the best day of my life eventually did not start off as well as I'd imagine it to. While I was walking toward my office with my favourite latte which tasted really bad that and the weekly assignment that I had to complete but failed it. My mind was totally occupied thinking about the speech to give that would help me from getting my ---, I heard a voice shouting for her 5 dollars at the other side of the street. I tried to get a look as early morning gossips and fights always meant one thing for me: a good day at the office. Distracted because of the traffic, I crossed the street and that's when I got her first glance. Brown hair, nerd glasses, a Batman sweatshirt and jeans, standing next to her bike complaining for the extra 5 dollars that was asked from her by the florist as he claimed, "the flowers were really hard to find anywhere else". I assumed she was getting late by the manner of the conversation because she really wanted to get through it and rush. Being a gentleman that I am, I decided to pitch in and apparently she ran out of money. But that wasn't the issue with her; the issue was the guy asking for extra money. I asked her if I could help and she declined but I insisted, again being the gentleman I am. I paid the guy and when I turned around , she already started walking. Well, I did not pay the amount just to help her, although it was a very small amount. I deserved a thank you at least and so I followed her and then started walking with her. She was everything but nice, even after the little favour that I did for her. I introduced myself and when I saw that she hardly cared, I pulled out the 'I am a huge batman fan' card and she bought into it. Maybe, talking about the other's interests will always be the greatest advice I have ever received. I asked her where she was heading, she questioned if I am gonna stalk her till here every day? To which I replied 'Not if I knew your number'. Well I know it wasn't the smartest answer at that point of time but I was still honest about it and sometimes being cliché and cheesy is all you need. She apparently was serving her last day as an intern for a NGO and was heading there with the flowers for them. She did not really tell me much about her but I spilled almost everything. It felt I had known this person for ever and there was a strange attraction for her. Quite honestly I really found her really attractive and she reminded me of my teenage crush Kiara who left me and shifted to another city 10 years ago when I was 15 and I had never heard from here there-after. But the only problem with this was that she weighed 20 pounds extra and did not wear glasses and hated superheroes and the comics. While, I was getting extremely late for my work which was exactly on the other side of the city I was happy to walk her till her NGO. She casted this spell on me and in spite all my cheesy lines and attempts to flirt, she was everything but impressed. Sadly, even after walking for 2 and a half miles with her all I knew that she was smart by the way she replied to my talks, she was extremely charming and loved helping these kids. When we finally reached I asked if I could at least know her name, she laughed and said," I am sorry for wasting your efforts and I am never ever going out with you." I laughed it off and told her that it was really nice knowing someone this smart, helping kids and spreading smiles.
I turned around and started walking until I heard her call my name. It was her.
I looked around and she smiled and said,"I thought you'd never forget your Kiara" and walked.
She made my heart skip a beat and happy. I thought I deserved more but I was hopeful that she would come looking for me one day, while I crossed the same path every day hoping to see her again.
I will always remember this day not because we couldn't meet up for lunch that and every day that followed and be sad about it. I will always remeber this day in my life because it was a day I felt young and wild again, was lucky to see her one more time again. A beautiful memory is what I call it and I hope that maybe one day the gods will be kind to me one day, again.
