Ever since humanity can remember the government had always tried to limit society’s knowledge about the unknown or what other people call it, the paranormal. It has always been speculated that life outside of earth existed, but thoughts of it or any knowledge of it was no longer a thing in their society.

The government, wanting to keep everyone under control had administered a mandatory medication that had to be taken every day and a penny size device that would be placed in your head. The devices were created first, they’d send electricity shocks every thirty minutes, but the human body was unable to feel it, however, to be able to achieve that it required a great number of certain resources and materials that would cost a huge amount of money, and therefore that’s where the medication came into place. In simple terms, the chemical compound of the medication caused memory loss on certain topics. There were very few people who had the devices, and those were the people who were immune to the medicine’s effects. One of those select few, was Ruka.

On a rainy day he had decided to go for a quick hike to a park, when suddenly, in a blink of an eye there was a mirror-like sphere orbiting above him, and in just a flash the sphere was gone. Ever since that peculiar day, Ruka had experienced many paranormal things. His wife noticed that he would always wake up with three aligned holes in any part of his body. Shortly after that, while he was sleeping, he felt a weird magnetic force and saw a neon light shining through his window. He dismissed it believing it was just a dream but when he woke up, he headed to his backyard where he had seen the light, simply out of curiosity. What he saw left him cold as ice. There was an odd pattern burned onto the grass and the side of the white wall seemed to be in a dark brown shade.

It was at that moment that his wife brough two men that were wearing sunglasses. They claimed to be maintenance workers, but Ruka found this to be odd because he never called anyone. The weirdest thing was that they finished rather quickly, and on their way out, they stopped by Ruka and told him not to say a word about what happened and left.

The following night he had a strange dream, or so he thought. He dreamt of being in some weird place with bright lights. He recalled being on a table with lights shining upon him. Everything was foggy but he heard voices speaking in a language clearly from another world, yet he understood perfectly due to them speaking directly to his brain. They told him to not be afraid because they meant no harm. In that moment they showed themselves to him, they were gas-like transparent things that had a human shape.

However, Ruka started getting a painful headache due to his brain trying to fight the device. His head flooded with thoughts about possible life outside of earth, and so, the humanoids beings realized that the device was causing it, so they used some type of magnetic force to destroy it without removing it from inside his head.

After that, Ruka woke up in his room and thought it was simply a dream, but realized it wasn’t because he was able to think of a possible third life force. This was something that he never thought about or rather he was unable to due to the device. However, it wasn’t only that. It had seemed as though he had new memories, but they felt like they weren’t his. It appeared that they weren’t memories, it was information given to him by the humanoid beings. He then realized what was happening. He realized that life existed outside of this world. He realized that the government was hiding something from everyone. He realized that something big was coming. He realized that he was caught in the middle of this and whether he wanted to or not, he would have to take part in it.

After a couple of visits to this strange spaceship he met this human woman. After talking for a while, he found out her name was Anglade. In that moment the humanoid beings appeared with two kids by their side. They were two of the most beautiful kids Ruka and Anglade had seen, however, you could tell they weren’t entirely human because of their eyes. Their eyes were a little different than humans, they were big and long almond shaped. Umi, was the name of the kid with eyes that gave a faint glow of blue that looked like the ocean when the sun hits it. Sora, the other kid, had eyes that glowed in shades of green and purple colors like a galaxy. The two humanoid beings said that every century they’d send kids to earth known as, Children of the Sea. They would rebirth the earth so life in it would continue.

Meanwhile the government had been vigilant of the ocean. They had sensed strange behavior coming from marine animals. It had been reported that many ocean animals from places far away had been gathering in one specific area and a group of scientists also noticed that the whales were communicating in a peculiar way as well. Whales are known for using high frequency clicks and whistles, but this communication seemed more like a song that attracted fishes from all around. To have millions of sea creatures gather in one place brought suspicion and that made the government suspect that the third life force was involved, and so they started to gather more researchers and troops to be ready when the time came. Ruka and Anglade had been tasked with making sure that no matter what, Umi and Sora fulfilled their duty, their destiny. And just like that they were all sent back to earth. Ruka woke up and decided to find Anglade so that they could meet in person and come up with a plan, but at that moment he heard a knock on his door. When he opened the door, Umi and Sora were standing there, and they simply handed him a letter and left. Ruka opened the letter and it said that they would be staying at the beach. A week passed and Ruka was then able to locate Anglade, she moved to where he lived to make communication easier and to be closer to the children. However, in the process of trying to get information they made a careless mistake. The government was already being very vigilant, and it took them no time to find out that out of a million people, one was researching things that should not be known to the public. They immediately started moving and making preparations for an arrest, but they were only expecting it to be one person. For that whole week Ruka and Anglade were not retrieved in their sleep to the spaceship, and they hadn’t heard from the humanoid beings either. Because information wasn’t being given to them, they didn’t have many leads, they didn’t even know what day it’d be when the children would fulfill their destiny.

On a Wednesday, while Ruka and Anglade were trying to further their investigation, a swarm of police officers stormed the place. They immediately handcuffed Ruka and Anglade and led them outside of the house, but on their way out Ruka saw that Umi and Sora had been captured as well. In that moment Ruka felt very panicked and disappointed because he thought it was his fault for not being able to do better for them. And then, he passed out. When he woke up, he found himself and everybody else tied up in what seemed to be a basement. He noticed that the children’s eyes were glowing and they had a blank expression on their faces, that’s when he realized that today was the day. The children kept saying, “The ocean”, over and over again and that’s when it all made sense, they had to be in the ocean to complete the process of the rebirth of earth. He felt completely helpless and just when everything seemed like it was over the humanoid beings appeared before him. They said that they were risking too much by being on earth due to their bodies not being compatible, despite that, they freed all of them and teleported to the middle of the ocean.

Ruka and Anglade were in awe, not only were they able to walk in water but the ocean was a beautiful transparent blue, allowing them to see all of the aquatic animals circling around them. While they were distracted the third life forces disappeared going back to where they belonged, leaving the children of the sea with them. Boat engines and helicopters sounded in the distanced and that’s when they snapped out of it, Ruka quickly turned to the kids and gave them the okay to proceed.

The children then started glowing and levitating but the boats were shortening the distance, it was a race against time. Umi and Sora in unison, told Ruka that part of the rebirth of earth required a wish to be fully completed. Without a second to waste he turned to the children and said, “Once you leave, I wish for humanity to be able to accept your existence without any problems or people controlling others. I wish for the incident of the medication and the devices to be long forgotten. That is my wish.” The children smiled and said their farewells descending to the ocean. Their bodies then started to dissolve into a million tiny galaxies, and then all the fish ate the galaxies then bolted to all kinds of directions. Suddenly the ocean started glowing and everything went blank.

Ruka then woke up. He got ready to go to work and then headed out. Ruka no longer had any memory of what had happened, but his wish came true, and humanity was able to live a normal peaceful life accepting the existence of the third life force.

I was inspired by an anime i watched. The film doesn't explicitly explain what's going to let the viewer to interpret it how ever they want. And so what i got out of the film i incorporated that into this story of mine.
