The Last on Earth
The calm someone has when their phone battery is not quite dead, not low enough to have to put on the charger. But it is all interrupted when it dies, that has been my final days on earth. Pretty unexplainable, just like when someone's phone dies all I can think about is well what's next.
My life has been filled with what's next, ‘Russians in heated debate with America and their nuclear power’ well what's next. ‘Russian missile silos spotted off the coast of Cuba’ alright what's next. Unfortunately for most if not all there really won't be a what's next. Fortunately for me though there really was no way of killing me unlike most people. Like a Greek god I can't die, I will be here until time runs out.
You might be thinking what do you mean until time runs out, well I’m not necessarily surviving I have a timer until it's over. I am an advanced AI in the Department of National Defense, fortunately for me I was able to find a computer in the president's bunker that I could live on for now, that's until the generator runs out. At one time tens of the smartest minds in America were spending countless hours developing me but now I’m stuck playing pong until a timer runs to zero.
It’s almost my time, the generator slowly getting quieter and quieter as power around me starts shutting down. Lights slowly dimming until going black like a movie theater. After it runs out I can’t help but think what's ne…

We live life by what's next instead of whats now, we are too focused on the future. The similes in my piece are there for emotion as well as bringing detail in something that isn't alive. The personification in this piece is my personal favorite. We see movies based around an apocalypse and how they survive but rarely see something that has no emotions. It's difficult to portray the death of an AI but when it’s personified it really brings it to life.
