The Smoke
And the smoke filled my lungs. I struggled to breathe, to fight against this vile mass bearing down on me, but I knew it was over. I was going to die right here. Right now. At only 14 years old. That’s when it happened, the smoke jerked back, almost as if it had solid form. I could feel my lungs inflating with the sudden rush of oxygen as I sucked in air. There was a buzzing in the air and the smoke was shrinking back. It grew smaller and denser until it almost resembled a human body. And it wasn’t alone. Behind the smoke there was a girl with long brown hair. She held her arm outright; she was clearly the one causing this to happen; making and the smoke to retreat. But I couldn’t tell how.
