The feel of chains rubbing against my skin and just the recurring thought

 “Nothing I did went right”

“Why didn’t it go right?”

 “I planned every little thing”.

I sat in a chair with just my reflection looking back at me. Then suddenly a man walks in, tall, it looked as if his bones didn’t fit in his skin, as if any moment they would pop out. He sits down, just staring at me with shameful eyes. “Do you know why you are here Mr.Collins?” I respond with silence. I start to grin uncontrollably when he asks me to “Just tell me where she is”. “I don’t know,” I say looking down at my shoes. He starts pulling out photos of my wife and setting them on the table in front of me, almost as if she was a grand prize. “I told you I don’t know where she is!” I scream. The man just sits there looking at me with hatred in his eyes. After five minutes of just piercing stares, he gets up and leaves. Here I sit alone, nothing but chains on my wrist and fearing thoughts. A different man walks in, he has a nice suit and you can just tell he’s the kind of selfish jerk who just shows off. “I am here to represent you” I look at him, nothing but judgment coming from those eyes of his. He says his name, but I am not bothered enough to listen. He sits beside me showing me the crime that I had committed. My heart leaps, the thrill of knowing I know something they don’t. That makes me better than them in every single way. I don’t say a word, but the man continues to talk. Gosh, you can tell he just loves the sound of his voice, doesn’t he? He looks at me and frowns as if he had heard my thoughts. He stood up swiftly and told me he would be right back. As I watch him walk out the door suddenly I am no longer sitting in this dark room with chains on my wrist. I am in a nice suit and walking to the bathroom, I wash my face with the cold water, hoping to wash away this feeling, but it remains. Water falling down my face I pull myself together and walk into the interrogation room. “Hello I  am Mr.Collins, I am here to represent you,” I say to a man sitting with chains on his wrist and fearing thoughts. “I am smarter than all of them!”  I think to myself. Everything went to plan. I have a man here to fall for my crimes, to take my burden from my shoulders. I chuckle under my breath “To think that nothing I did went right, the stupidity, of course, it went right I planned every little thing”

The author's comments:

Bio- The inspiration for this writing was about a man who had murdered his wife as a lawyer.  He is able to pin it on an innocent man that he ends up representing in the case of the murder of his wife. He is incredibly narcissistic and the stress of killing his wife makes him think from the perspective of the man who is taking the fall for his crimes. So it starts off with him from the perspective of the innocent man and then soon he leaves and the reader is able to see that the killer is in fact the lawyer that is representing the innocent guy taking the fall.
