The ball rang and the countdown states. The techer, a bit disappointed dir Boeing so roughly interrupted, snorted and yelled a last "do your homework!" to the students crowding near the door.
And we were out.
Precious seconds running down the clock, people sprinting and shoving each other. The hallway was a chaos of people in a hurry.
That's when I realize that nothing is happening.
No feet scattering on the floor, no lockers slamming. The chattering of students and teachers: vanished.
There's just silence. And me.
Nobody around.
Not in the classrooms, not in the cafeteria, not in the restrooms.
Okay, then. School day is finished.
But when I head downstairs, past the English hallway and the office, the lobby has disappeared.
I turn back, and then stairs are not there anymore. The hallway extended itself and now it's going and going and going endlessly.
I start running.
Running.
Running.
My heart pounds, my legs race, I am chased.
The walls are closing on me, this infinite is too small and I can't escape.
I can't, I can't, I can't.
Running.
Chased by myself, escaping from nobody but my thoughts. From my brain that screams: "You're trapped!"
