The love of Afrobeat songs worldwide is steadily on the rise, and songs like ‘Kolo’, created by one of the best Afrobeat artists in Nigeria, Kourage BeatZ NSI (real name Tochi Clement), are a testament to this trend.

The main reason why we can talk so much about ‘Kolo’ and Afrobeat is how Kourage BeatZ NSI made it.

It was learned that ‘Kolo’ was initially just an instrumental made from the rhythm of good kicks and complemented by a good Afrobeat sound. Somehow, and with grace, Johnel heard it, loved it, and vibed to it.

Kourage BeatZ NSI says: “We recorded the whole song. Later, Johnel made a resolution to drop the song. Then Johnel mastered the whole project and released it, and we thank God the listeners all around the world accepted the song. Now, we have turned a mere instrumental into a hit.”

Born Tochi Clement, a native of Abia State who grew up in Aba, Kourage BeatZ NSI is an undergraduate of Telecommunication Engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.

He started out as “Skopy Lonky,” playing instruments in church and in a live band, primarily in the eastern part of Nigeria in 2019, before venturing into production in 2021 and changing his brand name to “Kourage BeatZ NSI” a few years later.

He went fully into production and set up his personal studio at home, where he won a number of awards and earned numerous production credits for various artists.

The talented music maker had been around but wasn’t noticed when he made "So Grin – Like I Do." He also produced one track off Bnxn’s album “Bad Since '97.”
