Strange, similar, exact, different.

As children, we are taught to believe
That weeds are made to be plucked
And flowers are to be left alone to grow

"Why is that flower so yellow and ugly?"
The children say, as they tear it up
The dandelion is still a flower
It is not something that you should just let wither away
Because it doesn't look like every other flower

It is still just as beautiful
As any other flower that will grow
Despite what everyone would say
About how insignificant it was

Today, I walk down a middle school hallway
And as I walk past my classmates
I hear them shouting at a girl
Who never says much and stays quiet
They shout: "Why is that girl so different and ugly?"
They snicker and laugh and point

This is to you, beautiful girl.
You are just as beautiful as any other person
Don't beat yourself up over what those people will say
You're so beautiful, and you shine like the sun
So don't let them wither you away

So many have been left like this
Boys and girls alike
They feel left alone and lost
Like a Dandelion left to rot on someones front porch
But you, you are not like that.

You will grow and shine
Brighter than those roses will ever grow

Ever since I was a kid I've been laughed at and given nicknames. It's hard, it truly is and I believe that possibly... helping each other can help us the most with our own problems.
