A River of Depression

This is how people with depression feel. Either they are all fed up and raging with pain and anger, causing them to give up and not care and break down. Or they are just sad because of the way they view themselves, how others view them, or they feel like they do not blend in, or they feel used and not appreciated because of the people around them. Sometimes it is  both, and they feel like they cannot  do anything about it, so they sit in a dark room and think about every single flaw that could be improved. Depression flows like a river. It can flood up or drought down, but it always stays flowing. Sometimes, the water rushes intensely with a hard current that just feels impossible to stop.

The current is always the worst. They recommend that you do not swim in a river because the current can kill you. People with depression hate this, but love it at the same time. This is when every single emotion, every little thing in life just hits you and feels like things will never get any better. Most times this is the breaking point, and people just lust for death because the pain is so intense. They wish to feel nothing or better, so sometimes they harm themselves or react impolitely to anything. In other words, the person feels like they are drowning and cannot  get a single breath in. They are very tired, weak, and lost at this point.

The reason why they love this feeling is because they are drowning; they lust for death. The feeling of letting go, being free, and not having to worry about anything negative that happens in life. They do not  know what to do with themselves, and nobody’s there for them. Suicide then pops into the mind, and it feels so easy to let go of everything just to be at peace. Most decided to stick around, some decide to try and get put on drugs to control their emotions, and others are never seen again.

This is  what most people with depression do not  ever understand. The river will always flow, but depending on the high or low, the water can move fast or slow. They do not  always think about everyone in their  lives because they are too worried about themselves and what is  going on in their lives. Then everyone calls them selfish for leaving the loved ones behind when the loved ones could have done something about it. Most people like to go to a river for fun. Surely if they saw someone drowning, they would do anything within their power to help save them. The people at the edge of the river could be anybody, and that is  what people with depression do not  usually think about. They should think about their mother, father, brothers, sisters, friends, and anyone else that plays an important role  in their  life and realize everything they do for them and everything they do in return. That is  life, interacting with one another to express gratitude. That is  what should keep them going.

So overall, depression stays with a person no matter what they do. The river cannot  just disappear out of nowhere, and you cannot  stop a flowing body of water. One thing is certain , the waters can affect anything around it. Whether it is people, plants, trees, animals, or even the dirt can be impacted. We are all human, we all have emotions, please do not  take anybody for granted. You never know what somebody’s been through, and what they have to deal with. So do not  make them kill themselves;make them continue the one and only chance they get at life. Nobody should have to go through this. Nobody should have a jagged life because of depression.
The majority of people that are within the river stay in the river. Highs and lows create the current. Those with depression put on a fake smile and go throughout their day, only because they know nobody cares, nobody wants to listen to them complain. So they swim in the river, until it is  time to drown. Translation: they keep it all locked up inside and let it out when they are alone.
