Standing Up
I found Caitlyn Hannon's piece "Standing Up" inspirational and easily relatable. She discussed an incident in which she was harassed by another student and had the courage to, instead of fight back, stand up to her offender without violence. I, myself, can relate to this article since a very similar incident happened to me a few years ago. Her original feelings toward her action, or non-action, was, understandably negative. It can be extremely difficult to feel prod of not “sticking up for yourself”, even if those actions prevent further harm to yourself and/or others. Caitlin’s story is extremely commendable and I personally extend my gratitude to her for sharing her experience which may, with any luck, inspire others to do the same.
