A Historic Slam Dunk
“A Historic Slam Dunk” by Morgan Starling is a very powerful piece of writing. The writer is describing the first ever women’s basketball game, and the first ever dunk made by Lisa Leslie. Towards the end of the piece, she begins explaining how the WNBA is constantly losing fans to the NBA. The writer thinks that women’s basketball is just as important as men’s basketball. She states that “The WNBA may be just another sports franchise for some, but for me and many others, it’s an inspiration”
I can relate to this piece of writing in many ways. I’ve heard lots of people underestimating women’s basketball throughout my whole life, and because of that i understand how the writer is feeling. She makes very valid points, and I agree with her in every way. I believe that if women try hard, and show their skills, they are just as good as men. Just like the writer says, women’s basketball is a “inspiration”.
