I am Homeless
In this article ‘I am Homeless” by Amber Warrick really caught my attention because I have been thinking about homelessness because I have been reading a book about a homeless girl and I could really relate my book to this article. Amber Warrick is a very courageous girl. She was starting to lose her home and her mom was being hospitalized and her father just lost his job. Her parents were trying not to talk about it in front of her so she could focus on school but its hard not to think about losing your house. Her family received a notice, and she had to be out of her house the day after she was turning sixteen. Her sisters already moved out and she was invited to stay with neighbors. This impacted her whole family because they were all split up and not living together.
What I really liked about this article was at the last paragraph, when it said,”I never thought I would be homeless, but somehow I am living through it. I have learned that there is nothing to be ashamed of and nothing to hide from. I’ve learned that life goes on, it will get better, and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.” I really liked that part because you can’t just hide from reality, you have to face it and make the best of it. I feel like that is what she is trying to do and trying to stay positive. After reading this piece it changed my thinking about how they can be living in a house and be doing fine and then all of a sudden, you could be a homeless. I wasn’t aware of that before.
