I just began reading Teen Ink. At first it wasn’t too exciting; until I found a Review section in the Table of Contents. That is where all the interesting, constructive criticism comes pouring in.  In the issue I was reading, it just so happened to contain a review for, the book I was reading in class, the Impossible Knife of Memory by Laurie Halse Anderson.
I felt that the review, who was done by FaeNotMyName, was truthful for the most part. There was one or two negative paragraphs which some of my classmates and I disagreed with. We felt like the format choices and awkwardness of the book were fitting for a teen’s life, such as Hayley’s. I believe it was a great choice by Laurie, the author of the book, to make the plot develop slower than usual. It helps the reader connect to the story more. The well-adjusted pace is great at helping the reader understand what the main protagonists are feeling. It’s the type of book that you can leave while you’re reading; then come back to in ten minutes as if you were reading the entire time.
