The article “My first track meet” is about a high-school girl who has never ran in a track meet before and is very paranoid about how she will do in her one mile race. I have felt this feeling before when I also ran my first track meet race. When I was waiting for my race to be called i just tried to make up excuses that I could not run or I felt sick. I was very nervous and had lots of anxiety when I would think about what would happen in my race. In the article the girl has these horrible thoughts about her tripping, coming in last place and even the whole crowd laughing at her. When my event got called next and I had to walk to the starting line on the track, my heart was bumping rapidly and I couldn't think straight. My body got very tense, then I started to think straight. When the gun went off for the race to start, my mind just thought about how many people I was going to pass and what time I was going to get. When I had completed my first track meet I had not done to well, I had faced my fear and all of my negative thoughts just did not matter because I did something that I thought I could not do.
