I agree with the author's stance in "Life Is a Game of Dress-Up" and her words seemed like my own thoughts. She was saying what most other kids simply don’t have the courage to say. As Taylor Swift said, “ If you are lucky enough to be different don’t ever change.” I feel that this stereotype of the “in style” brand outfits paired with Ugg boots don’t define you. They blend you in. No one really knows what you are like because wearing something like this means losing your character, and not standing out.
The author went to school dressed like she was comfortable. The end result? She was happy about her outfits in looking back at her middle school years during high school and didn’t feel ashamed of her non-generic middle school years. The others thought of middle school as a dark place in their life. It doesn’t have to be. You don’t have to try so hard to be liked. You could just be yourself. People will like you for you and most importantly you will like yourself.
"Buy the clothes you like, not what someone else likes" These words the author mentions are words of gold. They are ones you should live by.
