Samir Yellapragada's poem, "Secure," is heartwrenching and eye-opening. It truly brings to light the unjust conditions some people are forced to deal with just because of their race or religion. It's absolutely despicable how corrupt and benign our society has become. Samir shouldn't have "To prove them [he's] not a terrorist but an average kid from Oregon." Although, something that really struck me in Samir's poem is when he writes, "The problem is fear - A fear so great it manifests itself as a disgusting hate." That is very true, because hatred and anger are secondary emotions. However, that doesn't justify it. Samir, thank you for this wonderful, enlightening poem.
