The memoir “An Overwhelming Moment” by Kaya L. basically is about a moment where she succumbs to the pressure of school. Langlois describes the seemingly ever-going list of assignments she has to complete, and the two tests she has to take. She then goes into a mini panic-attack and feels as if the whole world around her is falling apart. But after taking a deep breath and briefly remembering her childhood, she calms down and resumes her work.

I can fully relate to this memoir; I’ve had moments like this plenty of times in my life. Moments where it suddenly dawns on me how much work I actually have to do, and I procrastinate because homework seems like such a daunting task. This memoir seems like a rant that would come out of my mouth or the moth of one of my peers. Except for the specifics of the assignments of course. All in all, Kaya Langlois perfectly captures the prevailing opinion of most high-schoolers and the stress they feel from school.
