Conceit and Defeat by Ty Thomas
The writing titled “Conceit and Defeat,” written by Ty T., talks about a football player not doing his job. His writing left me feeling sad. I disagree it is his fault they lost. They lost because he went to cover another guy. He did not mean to leave his zone. I can not relate because I can not play football right now. I understand the frustration and anger he has because you feel like you did something right just to lose. I do not see the issue on my football team. The argument is a good one. I’m am left confused about what his team did after a hard lost. The story gives good life advice: “I was parted from ‘the realm’ and put in shame.” He also says, “The feeling of guilt was inconceivable.”
