Acknowledgment of an Understood Fame—Homage Paid to Unrequited Admiration
Does the sun, in her flaming glory, know of her fame? She is, in retrospect, the humblest of celebrities. As her blaze is being doused by a reddened ocean, is she conscious of the inspiration she provokes?—and is she aware of the faithful crowd that awaits her arrival in the stillness of a sleepy morning? She is the apple of eyes that mortal women only strive to catch. One may say that her ability to bewitch poets and seduce the Morning Glories is almost enviable. And her dignified fame!—how so many try to taste such sweet regard from admirers. But oh, what a pity, that she knows not one single name of these who worship her light.
