People who walk at an excessively slow pace. These are the people that really make my blood boil. It is irritating, provoking, and bothersome. Although people who walk slowly may be trivial to others, it is certainly not to me.

I try to ask myself, Do people not realize that they are holding up the whole hall with the way they are walking? Why won’t they walk faster? Should I tell them to walk faster? Although I have a great deal of questions to ask those who walk slow, I try to keep to myself.

It seems as if my annoyance grows even greater when I am trying to get somewhere when I am late. Whenever I am running late, it feels like everyone moves slower than they have ever been before. Everyone seems to walk like a snail. It gets to the point where I almost feel the need to yell at the person in front of me to get moving. Do they not have somewhere to be? Although all of this goes through my head, I keep my complaints to myself and attempt to overcome those slow walkers that will always be persistent throughout life.

I begin to think through all of the possibilities of why people would walk slow. Maybe people are walking in a group and conversing with each other. Maybe they are not walking fast because they are texting on their phone. Maybe the sidewalk or the hallway isn’t big enough for people to move efficiently. I always try to think things through before I overreact. 

It has come to my attention that many people have the pet peeve of slow walkers. I realize that everyone has pet peeves of their own and everyone has to deal with them. So the next time I see a slow walker I try to remember that this also might irritate someone else as well. This helps me keep to myself and stops me from making a fuss about the situation. At the end of the day, there will consistently be slow walkers throughout life and it will have to be something I deal with.
