Red, white, and blue, the colors of our flag. The flag is a feeling of hope, reassurance, and growth. With the growth of our country, it shows everything does work out in the end.

Last year my US history teacher taught me about Jim Crow laws. Jim Crow laws enforced segregation in the south. These laws lasted over 100 years. The flag gives a feeling of hope and reassurance. Hope that everything will work out in the end and give the reassurance that everything happens for a reason. These laws taught us and shaped our world into the way it is today. These laws helped us grow out of segregation and brought us into the world we live in today. 

In 1918 the flu was a very deadly disease. In just one month over 200,000 lives were lost. Everything was shut down and closed off. There was not much technology in 1918 and not a lot of cures to this miserable disease. People didn't just give up. They fought for their lives. They fought to stay in this world and be represented by the United States. The flag was a symbol of strength during this time. The flag gave everyone determination and a will to fight for their lives. Having a strong mindset is the most you can do when you're in those shoes, and the flag is a positive reminder to have such.

Yes, we still have people getting sick and we were just recently hit by covid. It will be marked in history, but we have grown since the flu. The United States flag soars strongly and confidently through the sky knowing how far this world has come. It shows growth and strength.

The American flag represents growth because our country grows every year, every month, every week and even every day. The future holds so much for us and our history will never be forgotten. From Jim Crow laws, to vaccines, it shows how far our world has come.
