Kwik Trip is anything but your average gas station. Something that is always there for me even on a bad day. Why, you ask, are so many people excited and talking about this gas station? Take my hand and come on a journey with me and learn about the best thing made in Wisconsin.

Let’s talk a little bit about the history of Kwik Trip. Kwik Trip was founded in 1965 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Over the next several years they added new locations surrounding Eau Claire. The first La Crosse location opened in 1971, and in 1973, they built a distribution center and moved the headquarters to La Crosse. They employ more than 35,000 people within the company and own over 800 stores in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan, and are still expanding every day.

Now we are on a road trip and need to get gas. There's a Shell in about 0.8 miles and then a Kwik Trip in about 1.3 miles and obviously, we are going to Kwik Trip. It’s 9 in the morning and the thing you think about is wanting a donut. You go inside and see a box of half a dozen Glazers donuts sitting on the shelf. These are by far the best thing at Kwik Trip. The soft dough shaped in a perfect circle with the perfect amount of sweet icing coating the donut makes it something you will never forget. Need something to wake you up and start off your day? There are a variety of machines ready to make you anything from a nice hot cup of coffee to a nice, chilling frappuccino. Apart from all of this Kwik Trip is like a mini grocery store that has anything from fresh produce to phone chargers, with a lot less walking around to find what you need. 

What if you don’t have enough money to get something to eat for your family? Maybe you’ll go to your local police department or food pantry. Kwik Trip has a program called Kwik Trip Kares that donates basic human necessities to those in need and they say it will always be their first priority. Some of these necessities include food, water, shelter, and safety. Places like fire departments or food pantries can put in an application on the Kwik Trip website and then Kwik Trip will donate the necessities to them for people in need to come and get them. 

What if you work at Kwik Trip? How might they help you? At Kwik Trip you’re rewarded for your contribution to their success. Each year Kwik Trip gives 40% of pre-tax profits back to their coworkers. The profit-sharing bonus ranges from 5-9% of each coworker’s gross annual wages, depending on company profitability. Another reason why Kwik Trip is the best for not only customers but for employees as well.

If what I said doesn't prove to you that Kwik Trip is the best thing in Wisconsin, maybe their grammatically correct and very powerful mission statement will prove to you why this place is the best. They want, “to serve our customers and community more effectively than anyone else by treating our customers, co-workers, and suppliers as we, personally, would like to be treated and to make a difference in someone’s life.” Now that must have really made you realize why people go on and on about the best place in Wisconsin. Kwik Trip.
