Your guide on how to prepare and what to expect for the upcoming Taylor Swift Eras Tour at MetLife Stadium this upcoming May. 

On November 15th, 2022, thousands of Swifties were left speechless at their inability to get tickets to the Eras Tour due to Ticketmaster, leaving only a select few lucky enough to have survived with a few snagged tickets. 

¨It looked like a lot of unfair practices were used which made me a little mad in the beginning, but she is who she is and I wanted to see her no matter what,¨ Samantha (24) recalled after successfully securing tickets to the May 26th show at MetLife Stadium. 

Like Samantha, fans who finally received tickets were overwhelmed at what they should be doing next to get ready for the tour. Coming from a Swiftie myself, I was left in this same position. 

After researching, I was able to find the answers to many of the shared questions circulating among fans right now. 

Know your venue guidelines ¨All Too Well.¨  

For longtime Taylor Swift fan Shannon, the different policies at MetLife Stadium were a major issue when she attended Swift's Reputation Stadium Tour in 2018. 

¨I did not check the bag policy before we went and I had to bring my bag back to my car, and it was pouring rain so that was a little frustrating,¨ Shannon recalled while recapping her experience at past concerts. 

Like many other stadiums on the Eras Tour, MetLife Stadium has a strict policy on bags and other carry-in items fans are allowed or restricted to bring into the stadium. 

Prohibited items include any non clear bag, battery operated clothing, cameras, and much more. All of this information can be found with a quick glance at MetLife Stadium's website. 

¨Clear bags that are 12” x 6” x 12” or less in size… Small purses/handbags (clutch-type bags) that are 4.5” x 6.5” or less in size,¨ as stated on the MetLife Stadium official website. 

¨Style¨ is ¨Gorgeous,¨ but comfort is key. 

The Taylor Swift fan base is known for its dedication to Taylor and unique outfits only fellow fans can understand. 

¨I saw people with different shirts on that had coded messages and I remember going home and researching all the things I saw,¨ Samantha remembered from attending past Taylor Swift concerts. 

Although it is always fun to have an amazing outfit, especially for these concerts, it is equally important for you to be comfortable. A longer concert means longer standing time, dancing and singing to your favorite songs. 

Choosing a nice pair of sneakers over painful heels might be the right choice for you to make your night more enjoyable. 

Think about your ¨Getaway Car.¨

One of the most important parts of going to a concert is getting there. With a little bit of preparation, you can have a fairly easy time, without much stress. 

If you are traveling to MetLife Stadium for your concert, they offer transportation through the New Jersey Transit, as well as the option to arrive via Coach USA Bus to the venue. 

¨Parking Lots Open: 1:30 pm | $40 per car | $160 per bus,¨ according to the MetLife Stadium website. 

On each venue's website, you can find links to directions, transportation, parking, and general information about the guidelines fans can access in order to arrive safely to the event. 

Get ready to ¨Stay, Stay, Stay¨ for a while! 

¨You are one person when you started liking her and that innocent phase of who she was and then she started to become an adult and her views started to change, starting to become more sure of herself and her relationships as you are doing the same thing. You can connect to her through every one of her eras,¨ (Samantha, 24).

Taylor Swift has a strong discography with 10 studio albums and 2 re-recordings. With the tour going through all of the ¨eras¨ of her life, it is no surprise that the setlist reflects that.

USA Today reported that the concert is 3 hours long, with Swift performing 44 songs, including 2 surprise songs she changes from night to night. With two openers at every show, fans can expect to be there for quite some time. 

Be ¨Ready for it…¨  

With the amount of fans reported to be attending each concert, it is important to be prepared for all situations the night might throw at you to prevent from missing anything. 

MetLife Stadium reports that the event starts by 6:30pm with the two openers, and Swift taking the stage after 8:00pm. In order to meet these times, depending on where you are coming from, give yourself enough time to safely park, as well as relax in your seats before the main event. 

Along with time, you need to be prepared for weather conditions as well. Swift plays her shows rain or shine. As this is the case, make sure to constantly pay attention to the weather as your date gets closer. An investment in a poncho or warmer outfit might be necessary. 

Do not be alarmed by the rain or shine chance of performance. Taylor will still put on a great show, according to Samantha (24). ¨Even though it was raining, that didn't take away from her performance at all, if anything it kind of enhanced it because she went along with it.¨

Still Looking for Tickets? Keep your ¨Eyes Open.¨

In the aftermath of the Ticketmaster fiasco, there were still heartbroken fans that were unable to secure tickets.

Although prices are much higher, and the seats might not be what most were hoping for, tickets can still be bought on many resale sites such as StubHub, Vivid Seats, Seat Geek, etc. with starting prices at $643. 

For the growing majority, these prices are unaffordable. If you are still looking to get tickets, most times patience is key. Ticket prices tend to go down closer to tour dates, even days before the event. Even from the nosebleeds, there really is no terrible seat at a Taylor Swift concert. 

¨I think at the end of the day she is just a normal person with an insane amount of talent that she uses to help a lot of people,¨ (Samantha 24). 

Whether it is from the way back of the stadium or the front row seats, Taylor Swift will without a doubt give you an incredible show. With the Ticketmaster fiasco over, it is time to ¨Shake it Off¨ and enjoy yourself. For me, I know I will definitely be looking forward to seeing Taylor in concert on May 26th!
